ORDINANCE NO. 46-72 <br /> <br />Messrs. Kelley, McBride, <br />Magnotto,. Usher, Wendling, <br />Brockman, Graber <br /> <br /> AN EMERGENCY ORDINANCE to provide for the submission to the electorate <br />of an amendment to the Amended Charter of the City of Lakewood by amending <br />Article XX Section 3 thereof pertaining to the duties and powers of the Board <br />of Trustees of Lakewood Hospital. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, a petition signed by at least ten percent (10%) of the electors <br />of the City of Lakewood and calling for an election whether Section 3 of Article <br />XX of the Amended Charter of the City of Lakewood shall be amended to read as <br />hereinafter set forth has been submitted to council and found sufficient accord- <br />ing to law, and <br /> <br /> WHE~S, no regular municipal election is to occur within the period of <br />not less than sixty days nor more than one hundred and twenty days after the <br />adoption of the ordinance, and "' <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, this ordinance constitutes an emergency measure providing for <br />the immediate preservation of the public health, safety and welfare and for the <br />usual daily operation of a municipal department, now, therefore, <br /> <br /> BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LAKEWOOD, STATE OF OHIO~ <br />TWO-THIRDS OF ALL MEb~ERS ELECTED THERETO CONCURRING: <br /> <br /> Section 1. That the question of the amendment of Article XX Section 3 <br />of the Amended Charter of the City of Lakewood so that as amended the same shall <br />be and read as follows: <br /> <br />ARTICLE XX, LAKEWOOD HOSPITAL <br /> <br />SECTION 3. DUTIES AND POWERS OF THE BOARD. <br /> <br />The said Board of Trustees shall operate and maintain such hospital as <br />a full care general hospital with emergency facilities and including <br />the following departments, together with the necessary ancillary <br />services for each of said departments: <br /> <br />(a) Department of General Practice <br />(b) Department of Surgery <br />(c) Department of Medicine <br /> <br />(d) Department of Obstetrics <br />(e) Department of Pediatrics <br />(f) Department of Psychiatry <br /> <br /> The said Board of Trustees shall have the control and management of <br /> such hospital and shall establish such rules for its government and <br /> the admission of persons to its privileges as it deems expedient and <br /> shall annually appoint the professional staff as determined by approved <br /> hospital administration. Said Board shall employ an administrator, <br /> department heads, and such assistants, nurses, physicians and surgeons <br /> and such other employees as said Board deems necessary, and fix their <br /> compensation, which compensation shall, however, be subject to the <br />· approval of Council. <br /> <br /> <br />
