ORDINANCE NO. 6 1-72 <br /> <br /> Messrs. Usher, Wendling, <br />Brockman, Graber, Kelley, Magqotto <br /> <br /> AN E}~RGENCY ORDINANCE to provide for the %ubmtssion to the el6etorate <br />of'an amendment to the Amended Charter of the City of Lakewood by amending <br />Article III Section 3 thereof and repealing Article XXIII thereof pertaining to <br />the salary of the members of Council of the City of Lakewood. <br /> <br /> 'WHEREAS, an emergency exists in that the charter amendment of Article III <br />Section 3 and 'the repeal of Article X~III is to be presented to the electorate of the <br />City of Lakewood at the general election to be held on November 7, 1972, and <br /> <br /> WBEREAS, this ordinance constitutes an emergency measure providing for the <br />immediate preservation of the public health, safety and welfare, now, therefore, <br /> <br /> BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LAKEWOOD, STATE OF OHIO, ~O- <br />TItIRDS OF ALL }~}~ERS ELECTED THERETO CONCURRING: <br /> <br /> Section 1. That the question of the amendment of Article III Section 3 <br />and the repeal of Article XXIII of the Amended Charter of the City of Lakewood so <br />that as amended the same shall be and read as follows: <br /> <br />: ARTICLE III. THE COUNCIL <br /> <br /> SECTION 3 SALARIES <br /> The salary of the members of Council shall be established by ordinance of <br /> Council, provided that such ordinance 'must be adopted not less than thirty <br /> (30) days prior to the final date fixed by law for the filing of nominating <br /> petitions by candidates for the Office of Councilman of the City of Lake- <br /> wood for the term beginning on the next succeeding first day of January <br /> and such salary shall not be increased or decreased during such term and <br /> shall not take effect with respect to any member of Council during the term <br /> for which he is elected. · <br /> <br /> . Such ordinance shall not be ~dopted or passed unless it has been read <br /> at three (3) separate regular council meetings, the second and third of <br /> such meetings not to be less than two (2) weeks subsequent to each prior <br /> meeting. <br /> <br /> Article XXIII SALARY AND E}DLU}~NTS FOR A COUNCIL~N shall be and the <br /> same is hereby repealed. <br /> <br />be submitted to a vote of the qualified electors of the City at the general election <br />to be held on Tuesday, the 7th day of November, 1972 at the regular places of voting <br />in the City between the hours of 6:30 A.M. and 6:30 P.M. <br /> <br /> Smction 2. That the ballots for said election shall, at the top thereof, <br />be entitled "City Charter Amendment Ballot" and the question.to be submitted on said <br />ballot shall be in words following: <br /> <br /> "Shall the proposed amendment of Article III Section 3 and the repeal of <br /> Article XXIII of the Amended Charter of the City of Lakewood: <br /> <br />ARTICLE III.
