WHEREAS, the Old Stone House is in need of extensive renovation <br />including the installation of a water closet, construction of a <br />full basement, replacement of support beams, relocation and re- <br />sizing of the existing furnace and duct work, providing for air <br />conditioning and humidity controls, installation of gravity flow <br />sewer and water line and moving and raising of the House to permit <br />construction of such a sewer, together with grading of surrounding <br />area and landscaping; and <br /> <br />WI~REAS, it is desirable in connection with such renovation that <br />restoration of the Old Stone House be completed by restoring the <br />summer kitchen structure adjoining and to the west of the Old <br />Stone House; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the improvements an~ repairs referred to above are <br />necessary to correct existing structural deficiencies and to <br />continue and expand the Old Stone House as a community institution; <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE, in consideration of the premises, the mutual <br />promises and agreements herein contained, and covenants hereinafter <br />recited, the parties hereto agree as follows: <br /> <br /> The CITY and the SOCIETY shall each be responsible for <br /> paying one-half of all costs of the said renovation and <br /> restoration of the Old Stone House, including architect's <br />o~fees, but the City's share shall not exceed $16,000.00. <br /> <br />0 <br /> <br />The CITY shall initially pay the entire cost of the <br />project and the SOCIETY shall reimburse the CITY by paying <br />its one-half share to the CITY, not to exceed 90 days from <br />the date of final payment by the CITY. <br /> <br />Be <br /> <br />The SOCIETY shall continue to use, manage and operate the <br />Old Stone House as a public museum. It shall maintain the <br />Old Stone House as an example of early pioneer living and <br />shall collect and exhibit within said building antiques; <br />historical furniture and furnishings and other objects; <br />manuscripts, books and data relating to the culture and <br />history of the country and especially of the Western <br />Reserve and.the City of Lakewood. The Museum shall be <br />operated in a manner designated to enhance the community's <br />knowledge and appreciation of its history. To carry out <br />such purposes, the SOCIETY shall provide a curator and <br />hostesses o <br /> <br />The SOCIETY shall keep the Old Stone House open to the <br />general public for approximately ninety (90) days each <br />year during such reasonable, limited and scheduled times <br />as may afford the greatest public use. The SOCIETY shall <br />provide proper supervision at all times the building is <br />open. Admission charges for non residents of the City of <br />Lakewood may be charged by the Society. <br /> <br />e <br /> <br />The SOCIETY may sell merchandise within the Old Stone <br />House. Sales at any other location within Lakewood Park <br />shall not be made except with the written consent of the <br />Director of Public Works of the CITY. <br /> <br />The CITY shall make no rental charge to the SOCIETY for <br />its use of the Old Stone House, and the SOCIETY shall make <br />no charge to tt~e CITY for its services in operating the <br />House for the City. <br /> <br /> <br />
