ORDINANCE NO. 56-76 BY: Messrs. Chinnock, Magnotto, McBride, Salmon, Sinagra, Usher, Brockman AN EMERGENCY ORDINANCE to amend Section 353.03 and subparagraph (r) of Section 351.01 of the Traffic Code of the Codified Ordinances of the City of Lakewood to establish a limited time period for the parking of motor vehicles in designated areas in the municipal parking garages and to provide for the enforcement of said regulation. WHEREAS, the establishment of a limited time period for the parking of motor vehicles in certain designated areas in the municipal parking garages provides for the welfare and convenience of the general public, and WHEREAS, it is in the best interest of the City to ~nforCe such parking regulation in the municipal parking garages and to provide a penalty for the violation thereof, and WHEREAS, this Ordinance constitutes an emergency measure providing for the immediate preservation of the public safety and welfare and for the usual daily operation of a municipal department; now, therefore, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LAKEWOOD, STATE OF OHIO: Section 1. That Section 353.03 of the Traffic Code of the Codified Ordinances of the City of Lakewood now reading as follows: 353.03 PARKING TIME LIMITS Parking or standing a vehicle in the spaces designated within off-street parking areas shall be lawful for any period upon the deposit of the coin or coins required for legal parking time and in a sufficient amount so as to prohibit any vehicle so parked from being parked overtime in such space, as such time and amount are disclosed on the meter installed-for the control of such space. The Director of Public Safety is hereby authorized and directed to establish the location and time limit for each individual parking meter which is installed for the control of each parking space, and the amount of coin required to be deposited therein. Parking meters shall be operated in the off-street parking areas every day between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m., except Sundays and holidays as specified in Section 355.05 (b). shall be and the same is hereby amended to read as follows: 353.03 PARKING TIME LIMITS Parking or standing a vehicle in the spaces designated within off-street parking areas shall be lawful for any period as designated by appropriate signs in designated areas of the municipal parking garages or upon the deposit of the coin or coins required for legal parking time and in a sufficient amount, so as to prohibit any vehicle so parked from being parked overtime in such space, as such time and amount are disclosed on the meter installed for the control of such space. The Director of Public Safety is hereby authorized and directed to establish the location and time limit for designated areas in the municipal parking garages and for each individual parking meter which is installed for the control of each parking space, and the amount of coin required to be deposited therein.
