ORDINANCE NO. 51-79 <br /> <br />BY: Brockman, Brown, Chinnock, McBride, <br /> McNally, Salmon, Wendling <br /> <br /> AN EMERGENCY ORDINANCE authorizing the Mayor, Ex-Officio Director <br />of Public Safety, on behalf of the City of Lakewood, to enter into a mutual <br />aid agreement with the cities of Bay Village, North Olmsted, Westlake, Fairview <br />Park and Rocky River for the interchange of the services of their respective <br />Fire Departments and the use of fire apparatus, including emergency medical <br />.service ambulances and personnel. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Section 717.02 of the Ohio Revised Code authorizes <br />municipalities to enter into contracts for mutual fire protection, and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the Chiefs of Fire of the cities of Bay Village, North <br />Olmsted, Westlake, Fairview Park, Rocky River and Lakewood have agreed that it <br />would be in the best interests of those communities to enter into a mutual <br />fire protection agreement, and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, this ordinance constitutes an emergency measure providing <br />for the immediate preservation of the public health, safety and welfare and <br />for the usual daily operation of a municipal department and for the further <br />reason that in the judgment of this Council, fire hazards are such as to <br />require immediate action to afford full protection to the City of Lakewood <br />and its citizens, NOW, THEREFORE, <br /> <br />OHIO: <br /> <br />BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LAKEWOOD, STATE OF <br /> <br /> Section 1. That the Mayor, Ex-Officio Director of Public Safety <br />is hereby authorized and directed, on behalf of the City of Lakewood to enter <br />into a mutual aid agreement with the cities of Bay Village, North Olmsted, <br />Westlake, Fairview Park and Rocky River for the'interchange of the services <br />of their respective Fire Departments and the use of fire apparatus, including <br />emergency medical service ambulances and personnel, said agreement to be <br />substantially in the form as set forth in Exhibit A attached hereto and made <br />a part hereof as if fully rewritten herein. <br /> <br /> Section 2. That this ordinance is hereby declared to be an <br />emergency measure-for the reasons stated in the preamble hereof and provided it <br />receives the affirmative vote of two-thirds of all members elected to Council, <br />it shall take effect and be in force immediately upon its adoption and approval <br />by the Mayor; otherwise it shall take effect at the earliest period provided <br />by law, and Ordinance 73-63 adopted July 16, 1963 and Ordinance 8-69 adopted <br /> <br />February 17, 1969 shall be and same are <br />Adopted: c~~<~A~z<-~ ~ /~77 <br /> <br />hereby repealed. <br /> <br /> .~. ., C 1 e.~-/zz~ <br /> <br /> <br />
