j -2- (a) If the impounded dog is not wearing a valid registration tag, the dog shall forthwith be turned over to an afficer charged by law with the custody and disposal of such dogs. If the dog is wearing. a v¡llid registration tag or the identity of the owner or harborer is otherwise established, notice shall be given prior to or on the next worki ng day to such owner or harborer that the dog has been impounded. Notice may be by telephone or by residence servi.ceto the last known address of.such owner or harborer. The dog shall no-t be released except upon -the payment of the following charges: for impounding any dog, five 'dollars ($5.00); forgiving notice, five dollars ($5.00); for keeping any dog, six dollars ($6.00) per day. Any dog not redeemed by the next working day after notice, as herein provided, is given to the owner or harborer, or the next working day following the date it is sezied or impounded if the owner or harborer cannot be found, may be sold or otherwise disposed of as provided in Ohio Revised Code Section 955.16. (b) If the impounded cat is wearing an identification tag or the identity of the owner or harborer is otherwise established, notice shall be given within two d~s to such owner or harborer that the cat has been impoundéd. Notice may be by telephone or by residence service to the last known address of such owner or harborer. The cat shall not be rele~sed except upon the payment of the following charges: for impounding any cat, five dollars ($5.00); for keeping any c~t, five dollars ($5.00) per day. Any cat not redeemedwith·in three days after notice is given to the owner or harborer as provided herein, or within three days of the time such cat is seized or impounded, if the owner or harborer cannot be found, may be sold or otherwise disposed of in a humane manner as shall be determined by the animal warden. (c) A record of all dOgs and cats impounded, the disposition of the same, the owner-Is name and ad'dress, if known, and 'a statement of any costs or receipts involving such dog or cat shall be kept. Section 2. That this ordinance is hereby declared to be an emergency meaSUre fo~ the reasons stated in the preamble hereof and provided it receives the affirmative vote of twocthirds of all members elected to Council , it shall take effect and be in force immediately upon its adoption and appröval by the Mayor; otherwise it shall take effect and be in force from and after the earliest period allowed by law and existing Section 505.02 adopted Novembér 20, 1978 shall be and the same is hereby repealed.
