ORDINANCE NO. 53-83 BY: Brown, Chinnock, Salmon, Wendling AN ORDINANCE fixing the salary of the Mayor of the City of Lakewood effective January l, 1984. WHEREAS, Article II, Section S of the Amended Charter of the City of Lakewood provides that the salary of the Mayor shall be established by ordinance of Council, provided such ordinance shall be adopted not less than thirty (30) days prior to the filing date fixed by law for the filing of nominating petitions by candidates for the Office of Mayor for the term to be effected thereby, and WHEREAS, the filing date fixed by law for the filing of nominating petitions for candidates for the Office of Mayor for the term beginning January 1, 1984 is August 5, 1983, and WHEREAS, this Council is Cognizant of the general inflation which has taken place throughout this country and is.desirous of increasing the salary of the Mayor who shall be elected at the next municipal election at which a Mayor is to be elected; now, therefore, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LAKEWOOD, STATE OF OHIO: Section 1. Commencing January l, 1984, the salary of the Mayor of the City of Lakewood shall be Forty-Five Thousand Dollars ($45,000.00) for the period January l, 1984 through December 31, 1984, Forty-Nine Thousand Five Hundred Dollars ($49,500.00) for the period January l, 1985 through December 31, 1985, Fifty-Four Thousand Dollars ($54,000.00) for the period January l, 1986 through December 31, 1986, and Fifty-Eight Thousand Five Hundred Dollars ($58,5D0.00) for the calendar year 1987 and thereafter, said salary payable in equal installments every two (2) weeks. Section 2. In the event any clause of phrase of this Ordinance shall be judically determined unconstitutional or invalid, every other clause or phrase shall remain in full force and effect. Section 3. It is found and determined that all formal actions of this Council concerning and relating to the passage of this ordinance were adopted in an open meeting of this Council, and that all such deliberations of this Council and of any of its committees that resulted ~n such formal action, were in meetings open to the public, in compliance with all legal requirements, including Section 121.22 of the Ohio Revised Code. Section 4. That this ordinance shall be in force from and after the earliest period allowed by law, provided, however, that the salary of the Mayor as herein provided, shall take effect January l, 1984 and Ordinance 47-79 adopted June 4, 1979 shall be and the same is hereby repealed at such time.
