ORDINANCE NO. 47-84 <br /> <br />BY: Brown, Chinnock, Gallagher, Graham, <br /> Salmon, Wendling <br /> <br /> AN EMERGENCY ORDINANCE to amend Section 373.05, paragraph (a) of <br />Section 373..06, paragraph (e) of Section 373.08, and Section 373.10 of the <br />Traffic Code of the Codified Ordinances of the City of Lakewood relating to the <br />licensing of bicycles. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the experience of the Police Department in the licensing of <br />bicycles has disclosed that the original intent of the five year expiration of <br />bicycle licenses has not materialized in thai; owners are not renewing said <br />licenses, and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, as a result of the lack of license renewal, additional expense <br />has resulted in the waste of outdated licenses on hand, and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, there has been caused filing problems to the Police Department <br />and it is determined that licensesshould be issued which have no expiration date, <br />and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, it is also the recommendation of the Police Department that <br />the license fee be increased to $2.00 to more appropriately reflect the actual <br />costs, and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, this ordinance constitutes an emergency measure providing <br />for the immediate preservation of the public safety and welfare and for the <br />usual daily operation of a municipal department; now, therefore, <br /> <br />BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LAKEWOOD, STATE OF OHIO: <br /> <br /> Section 1. That Section 373.05 of the Traffic Code of the Codified <br />Ordinances of the City of Lakewood now reading as follows: <br /> <br />373.05 LICENSE APPLICATION. <br /> <br /> Application for registration of a bicycle shall be made <br />to the Chief of Police upon forms provided by h~m, which <br />shall contain the name and address of the applicant and <br />the name, color and serial number of other identifying <br />marks of the bicycle and other information as the Chief of <br />Police shall deem pertinent. <br /> <br /> All licenses sold on or ofter August l, 1967, will be <br />effective for a maximum of five years and will cost one dol- <br />lar and fifty cents ($1.50) and such licenses shall expire <br />as of the expiration date contained thereon. All licenses <br />issued prior to August l, 1967 shall be valid for a period <br />of three years from the date of issuance and until the fol- <br />lowing August 1. <br /> <br />shall be and the same is hereby amended to read as follows: <br /> <br />373.05 LICENSE APPLICATION. <br /> <br /> Application for registration of a bicycle shall be made <br />to the Chief of Police upon forms provided by him, which <br />shall contain the name and address of the applicant and <br />the name, color and serial number of other identifying <br />marks of the bicycle and other information as the Chief of <br />Police shall deem pertinent. <br /> <br />All licenses sold before or after May l, 1984, shall be ef- <br />fective for as long as the applicant for such license re- <br />mains the owner of the bicycle.
