Section 913.06: USE OF THE }IUNICIPAL SEWERS <br />a) No person shall discharge or cause to be discharged any storm water, <br /> surface water, groundwater, roof runoff, subsurface drainage, un- <br /> contaminated cooling water, or unpolluted industrial process waters <br /> to any sanitary sewer. <br />b) Storm water and all other unpolluted drainage shall be discharged <br /> to such sewers as are specifically designated as storm sewers, or <br /> to a natural outlet approved by the City Engineer. Industrial <br /> cooling water or unpolluted process waters shall be discharged, <br /> on approval of the City Engineer to a storm sewer or natural outlet. <br /> c) No surface water or ground water drainage system shall be connected <br /> to any public sewers without prior approval of the City Engineer. <br /> Such approval shall require the submittal of the drawings to define <br /> the piping plans, critical elevations, surface contours, where <br /> applicable, and details of piping and drainage appurtenances. <br /> <br />d) No person shall discharge or cause to be discharged any of the <br /> following described waters or wastes to any public sewers: <br /> <br /> 1) Any liquids, solids or.gases which by reason of their nature <br /> or quantity are., or may be, sufficient either alone or by <br /> interaction with other substances to cause fire or explo- <br /> sion or be injurious in any other way to the wastewater dis- <br /> posal system or to the operation of the system. At no time, <br /> shall two successive readings on an explosion hazard meter, <br /> at the point of discharge into the system or any point in <br /> the system, be more than five percent (5%) nor any single <br /> reading over ten percent (10%) of the Lower Explosive Limit <br /> (LEL) of the meter. Prohibited materials include, but are <br /> not limited to, gasoline, kerosene, naphtha, benzene, toluene, <br /> xylene, ethers, alchols, ketones, aldehydes, peroxides, chlor- <br /> ates, perchlorates, bromates, carbides, hydrides and sulfides. <br /> <br /> 2) Any waters or wastes containing toxic or poisonous solids, liquids, <br /> or gases in sufficient quantity, either singly or by interaction <br /> with other wastes, to injure or interfere with any wastewater <br /> treatment process, constitute a hazard to humans or animals, <br /> create a public nuisance, or create any hazard in the receiving <br /> waters of the wastewater treatment plant, including but not <br /> limited to the following concentrations of materials in the <br /> wastes as received at the influent of the wastewater treatment <br /> plant; or any pollutant identified pursuant to Section 307 (a) of <br /> <br />the Act: <br /> <br />Copper 0.02 mg/1 <br />Arsenic 0.01 mg/1 <br />Zinc 0.04 mg/1 <br />Cadmium 0.01 mg/1 <br />Lead 0.1 mg/1 <br />Mercury 0.0005 mg/1 <br />Total Chromium 0.25 mg/1 <br />Silver 0.0036 mg/1 <br />Nickel 0.07 mg/1 <br />Cyanide 0.03 mg/1 <br />Chloroform 1.0 mg/1 <br />Free Oil 5.0 mg/1 <br />Total Phenolics 0.05 mg/1 <br />pH 6.5-9.0 s.u. <br /> <br />(7) <br /> <br /> <br />
