That Section 2 of Article XV of the Amended Charter of the City of Lakevood be amended to read aa fellers: SECTION 2. ADIfINISTRATIV~ STAler. The Director of Planning and Development and his et·fi ·hall provide all administrative and ·upport services to the Planning Commission; ·nd, in addition to his other powers, duties and functions, the Director shall have ~uch other duties and functions aa directed by the P.tanning Commission, provided that such duties and function· directed by the Planning Counni·aion ·hall be consistent with the provisions of this Charter and the City'· ordinance· 8nd resolutions. That Section I of Article XVII of the Amended Charter of the City of Lakewood be amended to read asfollows: SECTION 1. ORGANIZATION. (A) There ·hall be appointed, comeencing January 1, 1982, in place of the ~oard of Building Standards end Building Appeals created by the existing ordinance of the City, · Board of Building Standards end Building Appeals composed of five members, Who shall be appointed for a tern of five years, except that members first appointed to the present Board of Building Standards and Building Appeals vere appointed as follows: one for a term of one year, one for a tern of tvs years, one for a term of three years, one for · tern of four ye·rs, and one for a tern of five years. All members presently serving on the Board shall continue to serve until the expiration of their tern. There- after, members of the Board shall be appointed for five year terns of office, as fellers: the first, third and fifth rerular vacancies on the Board shall be filled by an appointee of tlhe ltlyor, fmd the second and fourth regular vacancies shall be filled by an appointee of the Council, appointed by a majority vote of the members of Council. hch successive regular vacancy shall be filled in the umnner provided in this section for the initial appointment of the person whose office ia vacant. Xembers of the Board ·hall be ineligible to succeed thamselves unless the member is completing a tern for which he or she vas appointed to fill a Bid-tern vacancy. In the event of a mid-.tern vacancy in the office of member of the Board, the vacancy shall be filled for the unexpired tern in the manner provided in this section for the initial appointment of the person whose office if vacant. The Hayer may remove, for cause, any member appointed. The Planning and Development Department, the Division of Building Inspection, and the City Engineer shall furnish the necessary technical advice and services required by the Board. (B) The Board shall elect its ow Chairnan and Vice Chairman. A majority of the Board shall constitute a quorum to do business. -2-
