57-85 Submit to electors proposed Charter Amendment

That if the fores·inS proposed ~mendment is approved by a majority of the electors voting thereon at such election, it shall become effective iron and after the tine of its approval by the electors. Section 3. That the,ballot ~ubmittinS the question of the adoption of the aforesaid ~nendnent shall read as follows, or as otherwise directed by the election authorities: PROPOSED CITY OF ~D, O!II0 A majority affirmative vote is necessary for passage. Shall an amendment to existing Section & of Article II, Section I of Article IV, Section 2 of Article XV and Section I of Article XVI! and by the addition of Section 1 of new Article XXII of the Amended Charter of the City of Lakewood be adopted to establish the Department of Planning and Develop- nent and to provide for the appointment of its Director and his powers, duties and functions. Section &. That the Clerk of Council is hereby authorized and directed to cause the full text of said proposed Charter a~endment to be published pursuant to Section 107.10 of the Administrative Code of the Codified Ordinances of the City of Lakewood, Ohio and Section 731.211, Ohio Revised Code. Section 5. ~hat the Clerk of Chis Council be and she is hereby authorized and directed to forward a certified copy of this ordinance to the Board of Elections of Cuyahoga County, Ohio; nnd that the City's Clerk of Council, the Mayor and the Director of Law are hereby authorized and directed to take such other actions as Bay be necessary to submit the aforesaid amendment to the electors of the City. at the general and regular municipal election to be held on November 5, 1985. Section 6. That the Board of Elections of Cuyahoga County, Ohio is hereby requested and authorized to cause appropriate notice of such election to be duly given in accordance with lee and to otherwise provide for such election in the manner provided by the City's Amended Charter and the general.laws of the State of Ohio. Section 7. That there is hereby approprLutad from the general fund of the City an auount sufficient to pay the coat of carrying out the authorizations and directions of this ordinance. Section 8. That it ia found and deteruined that all formal actions of this Council concerning and relating to the passage of this ordinance were passed in an open nearing of this Council, and that all deliberations of this Council and of any of its cc~zittees that resulted in such formal action, were in meetings open to the public, in compliance with all legal requirenents, includins Section 121.22 of the Ohio Revised Code.
