Page 2 <br /> <br />several residents, that Clarence Avenue is used as the North-South cut- <br />through, as it is the most easterly street connecting Lakewood Heights Blvd. <br /> <br />Chairman Sinagra moved that the assessment be reduced to $2.50 per linear <br />foot. Second by Mr. Harbarger. Motion adopted unanimously. <br /> <br />Arlington Road (W. Clifton Blvd. to Clifton Road) <br /> <br />Two residents were present from Arlington Avenue. Mr. Michael Ward expressed' <br />the belief that Arlington Avenue did not require resurfacing, that it <br />recently had received a slurry seal application. Mr. Ziegenruecker <br />explained that the slurry seal had been applied four years ago, and that <br />the base was deteriorated now to the point that it was prudent to do the <br />repairs at this time. In addition, many residents have expressed, in the <br />past, a desire for the resurfacing program. <br /> <br />Overlook Road (Arlington Road to Arlington Road) <br /> <br />No residents were present from Overlook Road. <br /> <br />Cranford Avenue (Detroit Avenue to Lake Avenue) <br /> <br />Although no residents were present from Cranford Avenue, Councilman Thomas <br />George requested that the Board give consideration to reducing the proposed <br />$7.00 per linear foot assessment. <br /> <br />Brockle~ Avenue (Detroit Avenue to Lake Avenue) <br /> <br />Three residents were present from Brockley Avenue. Residents expressed <br />concern that the cost of $7.00 per linear foot was excessive for individuals <br />on fixed income. Questions were raised concerning why some streets in <br />Lakewood were not assessed for this same type of resurfacing treatment. The <br />Chairman and the Director of Public Works explained that certain target <br />areas are eligible for Community Development Block Grant Funds, under <br />specific Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) guidelines. <br />Councilman Thomas George requested the Board give consideration to reducing <br />the $7.00 per linear foot assessment proposed. <br /> <br />Parkwood Avenue (Franklin Blvd. to Madison Avenue) <br /> <br />Four residents were present from Parkwood Avenue. Residents referred to the <br />heavy traffic during rush hours from individuals using Parkwood Avenue to <br />avoid the traffic signals on Bunts Road~ Residents requested that the truck <br />traffic from the car dealer be addressed through police surveillance. <br />Chairman Sinagra assured the residents that he will instruct Police Chief <br />Mecklenburg to assign patrol units to this area. <br /> <br /> <br />
