ORDINANCE NO. 68-89 <br /> <br />BY: Brown, Chinnock, Gazzana, <br /> George, Graham, Wmndling <br /> <br /> AN EMERGENCY ORDINANCE creating positions and fixing salaries <br />of the annual salaried sworn personnel in the Division of Fire of the <br />Department of Public Safety except the Fire chief, effective January <br />1, 1989, and repealing all other ordinances or parts of ordinances <br />inconsistent therewith. <br /> WHEREAS, this ordinance constitutes an emergency measure <br />providing for the usual daily operation of a municipal department in <br />that in the interest of public service, welfare and'safety, it is <br />necessary to fix the compensation of employees; now, therefore, <br /> BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY OF LAKEWOOD, STATE OF OHIO: <br /> Section 1. Positions are hereby created and the compensation <br />of annual salaried sworn personnel in the Division of Fire with the <br />exception of the Executive Assistant Chief and chief of Fire shall be <br />as follows effective January 1, 1989, pursuant to the terms of the <br />agreement between the city of Lakewood and Local #382 of the <br />International Association of Fire Fighters, AFL--CIO: <br /> DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC SAFETY -- DIVISION OF FIRE <br /> <br />RANK <br /> <br /> Assistant Fire Chiefs <br /> Fire Captains <br /> Fire Marshal <br /> <br />$44,050.86 <br /> 38,305.20 <br /> 38,305.20 <br /> <br />Fire Fighters (26,306.00 to 35,113.10) <br /> Detailed as Fire Inspector 35,113.10 <br /> Detailed as Electrician/ 35,113.10 <br /> <br />Grade 1 <br />Grade 2 <br />Grade 3 <br /> <br />Mechanic <br /> <br />35,113.10 <br />31,921.00 <br />29,106.00 to 30,506.00 <br />26,306.00 to 27,706.00 <br /> <br /> Section 2. In the Division of Fire, Department of Public <br />Safety, Grade 1 Fire Fighters shall consist of fire fighters who have <br />continuously served in the Division of Fire four (4) full years or <br />who, in the judgment of the Director of Public Safety, have acquired <br />equivalent training and acquired experience in the Division of Fire in <br />some other City. Grade 2 Fire Fighters shall consist of Fire Fighters <br />who have served continuously in the Division of Fire for more than two <br />(2) years. Grade 3 Fire Fighters shall consist of fire fighters who <br />have served in the Division of Fire for less than two (2) years. <br />Provided, however, that there shall be no increase in salary to a fire <br />fighter by reason of said grouping until certified by the Director of <br />Public Safety. <br /> Section 3. Firefighters who are accepted for employment with <br />the Division of Fire having experience with Fire Departments in other <br />communities and certified as Fire Fighters Grade 1, shall be hired at <br />the grade of Fire Fighter Grade 3, and will serve in that group for a <br />period not less than six (6) months. After that time, they shall be <br />promoted to Grade 2 upon recommendation of the Fire chief, and serve <br />in Grade 2 for a period of not less than 2 years. After such time, <br />they shall be promoted to Grade 1 upon recommendation of the Fire <br />chief. <br /> <br /> <br />
