ORDINANCE <br />NO. 19-90 which W~'f'PLA~RD ON <br />FIRST READING ON APRIL 2, 1990. <br /> <br /> BY: Boscia, Ga. llagher, <br />Gazzana, George, Roth <br /> <br /> AN EMERGENCY ORDINANCE amending Section 149.10(a) of the <br />Administrative Code of the Codified Ordinances of the City of Lakewood <br />to provide for the establishment of a holiday in the City of Lakewood <br />commemorating the anniversary of the birth of Dr. Martin Luther King, <br />Jr. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, this nation pays tribute to Dr. Martin Luther King, <br />Jre each year on the anniversary of his birth, and <br /> WHEREAS, all citizens are aware of the positive impact Dr. <br />King had upon the American ideals of freedom, justice and opportunity <br />for all, and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, it is important that we commemorate the <br />achievements of Dr. King and his contribution to our way of life; now, <br />therefore, <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, this ordinance constitutes an emergency measure <br />providing for the immediate preservation of the public health, safety <br />and welfare and for the usual daily operation of a municipal <br />department; now, therefore, <br /> <br /> BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY OF LAKEWOOD, STATE OF OHIO: <br /> <br /> Section 1. That Section 149.10(a) of the Administrative <br />Code of the Codified Ordinances of the City of Lakewood, now reading <br />as follows: <br /> <br />149.10 HOLIDAYS. <br /> <br />(a) Full-time permanent hourly employees and <br />annual salaried employees, except members of the <br />Division of Police and Fire, shall be granted <br />holidays with regular time pay, as follows: <br /> <br />New Year's Day <br />Memorial Day <br />Independence Day <br />Labor Day <br />Presidents Day <br />Thanksgiving Day <br /> <br />Day after Thanksgiving <br />Christmas Day <br />Good Friday <br />Employee's Birthday <br />Day Personally Requested <br /> <br />However, no employee shall be compensated for <br />holiday pay unless he works or is available for <br />work on his full regularly scheduled work day next <br />preceding and next following the holiday. <br /> <br />Day after Thanksgiving shall not apply to <br />individuals working in the Refuse Department or <br />Wastewater Treatment Plant, who shall receive an <br />extra personal day. <br /> <br />be and the same is hereby amended to read as follows: <br /> <br />149.10 HOLIDAYS. <br /> <br />(a) Full-time permanent hourly employees and <br />annual salaried employees, except members of the <br />Division of Police and Fire, shall be granted <br />holidays with regular time pay, as follows: <br /> <br />New Year's Day <br />Memorial Day <br />Independence Day <br />Labor Day <br /> <br />Day after Thanksgiving <br />Christmas Day <br />Good Friday <br />Employee's Birthday <br /> <br />1 <br /> <br /> <br />
