Presidents Day <br />Thanksgiving Day <br /> <br />Day Personally Requested <br />Martin Luther King Day <br /> <br />However, no employee shall be compensated for <br />holiday pay unless he works or is available for <br />work on his full regularly scheduled work day next <br />preceding and next following the holiday. <br /> <br />Day after Thanksgiving shall not apply to <br />individuals working in the Refuse Department or <br />Wastewater Treatment Plant, who shall.receive an <br />extra personal day. <br /> <br /> Section 2. The third Monday in January or that date <br />established by Federal law for the observation of the birthday of Dr. <br />Martin Luther King, Jr. is hereby declared to be an annual holiday in <br />the City of Lakewood in honor of and commemorating the anniversary of <br />the birth of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., respecting his many <br />contributions to our way of life and the American ideals of liberty, <br />justice, equality and opportunity for all. The Mayor shall be and he <br />is hereby authorized to implement all necessary administrative <br />procedures to put this revised ordinance into effect, including the <br />addition of same to any existing collective bargaining agreements. <br /> <br /> Section 3. It is found and determined that all formal <br />actions of this Council concerning and relating to the passage of this <br />ordinance were adopted in an open meeting of this Council, and that <br />all such deliberations of this Council and of any of its committees <br />that resulted in such formal action were in meetings open to the <br />public in compliance with all legal requirements. <br /> <br /> Section 4. That this ordinance is hereby declared to be an <br />emergency measure for the reasons stated in the preamble hereof and <br />provided it receives the affirmative vote of two-thirds of all members <br />elected to Council, it shall take effect and be in force immediately <br />upon its adoption and approval by the Mayor; otherwise, it shall take <br />effect and be in force after the earliest period ~ law <br />Adopted: ~ /~/ /~ <br /> <br />MAYOR -~ <br /> <br /> <br />
