(c) Operators of oil burning equipment shall make <br />an inventory of underground tanks at least once <br />every seven (7) days for the purpose of checking <br />whether or not there is any loss or accumulation <br />of water. <br /> <br />1502.02. ABANDONMENT OF TANKS. <br /> <br />A permit shall be obtained from the Fire Chief to' <br />remove, abandon, place temporarily out of service <br />or otherwise dispose of any underground storage <br />tank containing flammable or combustible liquids. <br /> <br />(a) Tanks "temporarily out of service" shall <br />have the fill line, gauge opening and pump <br />connection secured against tampering. Vent lines <br />shall remain open and be maintained in accordance <br />with the requirements of the Ohio Administrative <br />Code for vent lines; <br /> <br /> (b) Any tank not used for a period of ninety (90) <br />days shall be properly safeguarded or removed in a <br />manner approved by the Fire Chief or his designee; <br /> <br />(c) Any tank which has been abandoned for a <br />period of one year shall be removed from the <br />property in a manner approved by the Fire Chief or <br />his designee and the site restored in an approved <br />manner l When the Fire Chief or his designee <br />determines that the removal of the tank is' not <br />necessary, he may permit the tank to be abandoned <br />in place in accordance with APi 1604 listed in <br />rule 1301:7-7-34 of the Ohio Administrative Code, <br />and including the following methods: <br /> (i) Remove all flammable or combUstible <br /> liquid from the tank and all connecting <br /> lines; <br /> (ii) Disconnect the suction, inlet, gauge, <br /> and vent lines; <br /> (iii) Fill the tank completely with an <br /> inert solid material. 'Cap remaining under- <br /> ground piping; and <br /> (iv) Keep a record of tank size, location, <br /> date 'of abandonment, and method used for <br /> placing the abandoned tank in a safe condi- <br /> tion. <br /> <br />1502.03. NEW OCCUPANCIES. <br /> <br />New occupancies due to a change of ownership or <br />change of lease, shall have a hydrostatic test <br />performed and shall have adequate inventory re- <br />cords .before a permit is issued. A copy the test <br />results and inventories shall be received by the <br />Fire Chief and, if there are no leaking condi- <br />tions, a permit may be issued at that time. <br /> <br />1502.04. RECORDS. <br /> <br />Any leaking condition, shortage of flammable and <br />combustible liquids, or spills into public sewers, <br />drains and waterways, shall be reported at once to <br />the Fire Chief or his designee. Procedures for <br />locating and testing for underground leaks shall <br />be as outlined in N.F.P.A. Pamphlet No. 329, <br />"Underground Leakage of Flammable and Combustible <br />Liquids." Storage tank inventory records for the <br />thirty days prior to the closing date shall be <br />made available to the Fire Chief prior to the <br />closing of a station. <br /> <br /> <br />
