54~.28 STOLEN OR LOST HANDGUNS; REPORTS <br /> <br />(a) <br /> <br />Whenever any handgun is stolen or lost, the person Iosinu. possession thereof <br />shall, immediately upon discovery of such theft or It>ss, make a report thereof to <br />the Division of Police showing thc following: <br />(1) Name, address and Social Security number of the person owning or having <br /> <br /> possession of such handgun; <br />(2) Kind ofhandgun; <br />(3) Serial number of handgun; <br />(4) Model: <br />(5) Caliber; <br />(6) Manufacturer or importer of handgun; <br />(7) Handgun registration card number, if any; <br />(8) Date and place of theft or loss; <br />(9) A complete statement of the fao:s and circumstances surrounding such <br /> theft or loss. <br /> <br />(b) Whoever violates this section is guilty of a minor misdemeanor. <br /> <br />SECTION 549.29 WEAPONS CONFISCATED <br /> <br /> Any handgun and/or deadly weapon which any person owns or possesses in violation <br />of any of the provisions of this chapter shall, upon conviction of such person be confiscated <br />by the Lakewood Police Department. Weapons lawfully seized or forfeited shall be disposed <br />of in accordance with sxate law and Division of Police policy. Any handgun which has been <br />reported stolen pursuant to Section 549.28 shall be returned to the owner, unless possession <br />thereof by the owner would constitute a violation of any provision contained in this chapter. <br /> <br />SECTION 549.98 EXEMPTIONS <br /> <br />The following shall be exempt from the provision of this chapter: <br /> (a) Any state of the United States, the United States or any political <br /> subdivision, department or agency of either; <br /> (b) An officer or agent of any state of the United States. or any agency of <br /> either, a member of the organized militia of any state'or the armed forces of <br /> the United States, or a law enforcement officer of any political subdivision, but <br /> only to the extent that the official duties require or permit the individual to <br /> purchase, own, possess, receive, carry or use handguns and not for the personal <br /> use of such individual. <br /> <br /> Section 4. It is found and determined that all formal actions of this Council <br />concerning and relating to the passage of this ordinance were adopted in an open meetin~ of <br />this Council, and that all such deliberations of this Council and of any of its committees that <br />resulted in such formal action were in meetings open to the public in compliance with all <br />legal requirements. <br /> <br />^dopted; <br /> <br />President <br /> <br /> <br />
