1331,05 CERTIFICATION OF CHANGE IN OCCUPANCY <br /> (a) .Alter September I, t982. at every change m OCCupancy of every residential rental <br />unit occasioned by or incidental to a sale, lease, or sublease of such unit. it shall be the <br />duty of the grantor thereof(i.e.', the seller, lessor, or sublessor as the case may be) to <br />certifiy in writing, betbre occupancy to the new occupant that all smoke detectors as <br />required by this chapter (or other applicable laws} are installed and in the proper <br />condition. Upon receipt of such certification, it shall be the duty of the occupant to <br />maintain all self-contained smoke detectors in good working order. <br /> <br />(b) .... <br /> <br />shall be and the same is hereby amended: <br /> <br /> 1331.05 CERTIFICATION OF CHANGE IN OCCUPANCY. <br /> (a) After September 1, 1982, a~ every change in occupancy of every residential rental <br />unit occasioned by or incidental to a sale, lease, or sublease of such unit, it shall be the <br />duty of the grantor thereof (i.e., the seller, lessor, or sublessor as the case may be) to <br />certify in writing before occupancy to the new occupant that all smoke detectors as <br />required by this chapter (or other applicable laws) are installed and in the proper <br />condition. This provision, as outlined in this paragraph, shall apply to carbon monoxide <br />(CO) detectors on the effective date of this ordinance. Upon receipt of such certification. <br />it shall be the duty of the occupant to maintain all self-contained smoke detectors in good <br />working order by replacing the battery, when needed to keep the smoke detector <br />operating properly, for existing smoke detectors so equipped with replaceable batteries. <br /> <br />(b) .... <br /> <br /> Section 7. That Section 1331.06 of the Building Code of the Codified Ordinances <br />of the City of Lakewood, now reading as follows: <br /> <br />1331.06 PERMITS AND FEES. <br /> No smoke detector or alternative system shall be directly connected (permanently <br />wired) to the elecaical system of the structure unless an ele~ricai permi~ shall have been <br />tim obtained from the building Department and any applicable fee paid. <br /> <br />shall be and the same is hereby amended: <br /> <br />1331.06 PERMITS AND FEES. <br /> No smoke detector, carbon monox:de (CO) detector or alternative system shall be <br />directly connected (permanently wired) to the electrical sy~tent of the ~trueture unless an <br />electrical permit shall have been first obtained from the building Department and any <br />applkable fee paicL <br /> <br /> Section 8. That Section 1331.07 of the Building Code of the Codified Ordinances <br />of the City of Lakewood, now reading as follows: <br /> <br /> 1331.07 SUPPLEMENTAL STANDARDS. <br /> This chapter is intended to be used with and supplemented by the applicable provisions <br />of NFPA standards 72-E, 1978 Edition and NFPA Standards 74, 1980 Edition which are <br />here~y incorporated herein. However, if there shall be any conflict between this chapter <br />and the supplemental standards, this chapter and any rules and regulations adopted <br />pursuant thereto shall prevail. <br /> <br />shall be and the same is hereby amended: <br /> <br />1331.07 SUPPLEMENTAL STANDARDS. <br /> This chapter is intended to be used, with and supplemented by the applicable provisions <br />of the most current edition of NFPA 72, National Fire ,Alarm Code which are herebv <br />incorporated herein. However, if there shall be any conflict between this chapter and the <br />supplememal standards, this chapter and any rules and resulations adopted pursuant <br />thereto shall prevail. <br /> <br /> <br />
