1331,05 CERTIFICATION OF CHANGE IN OCCUPANCY (a) .Alter September I, t982. at every change m OCCupancy of every residential rental unit occasioned by or incidental to a sale, lease, or sublease of such unit. it shall be the duty of the grantor thereof(i.e.', the seller, lessor, or sublessor as the case may be) to certifiy in writing, betbre occupancy to the new occupant that all smoke detectors as required by this chapter (or other applicable laws} are installed and in the proper condition. Upon receipt of such certification, it shall be the duty of the occupant to maintain all self-contained smoke detectors in good working order. (b) .... shall be and the same is hereby amended: 1331.05 CERTIFICATION OF CHANGE IN OCCUPANCY. (a) After September 1, 1982, a~ every change in occupancy of every residential rental unit occasioned by or incidental to a sale, lease, or sublease of such unit, it shall be the duty of the grantor thereof (i.e., the seller, lessor, or sublessor as the case may be) to certify in writing before occupancy to the new occupant that all smoke detectors as required by this chapter (or other applicable laws) are installed and in the proper condition. This provision, as outlined in this paragraph, shall apply to carbon monoxide (CO) detectors on the effective date of this ordinance. Upon receipt of such certification. it shall be the duty of the occupant to maintain all self-contained smoke detectors in good working order by replacing the battery, when needed to keep the smoke detector operating properly, for existing smoke detectors so equipped with replaceable batteries. (b) .... Section 7. That Section 1331.06 of the Building Code of the Codified Ordinances of the City of Lakewood, now reading as follows: 1331.06 PERMITS AND FEES. No smoke detector or alternative system shall be directly connected (permanently wired) to the elecaical system of the structure unless an ele~ricai permi~ shall have been tim obtained from the building Department and any applicable fee paid. shall be and the same is hereby amended: 1331.06 PERMITS AND FEES. No smoke detector, carbon monox:de (CO) detector or alternative system shall be directly connected (permanently wired) to the electrical sy~tent of the ~trueture unless an electrical permit shall have been first obtained from the building Department and any applkable fee paicL Section 8. That Section 1331.07 of the Building Code of the Codified Ordinances of the City of Lakewood, now reading as follows: 1331.07 SUPPLEMENTAL STANDARDS. This chapter is intended to be used with and supplemented by the applicable provisions of NFPA standards 72-E, 1978 Edition and NFPA Standards 74, 1980 Edition which are here~y incorporated herein. However, if there shall be any conflict between this chapter and the supplemental standards, this chapter and any rules and regulations adopted pursuant thereto shall prevail. shall be and the same is hereby amended: 1331.07 SUPPLEMENTAL STANDARDS. This chapter is intended to be used, with and supplemented by the applicable provisions of the most current edition of NFPA 72, National Fire ,Alarm Code which are herebv incorporated herein. However, if there shall be any conflict between this chapter and the supplememal standards, this chapter and any rules and resulations adopted pursuant thereto shall prevail.
