portions thereof used and occupied by trades, businesses or occupations where high or iow <br />temperatures are essential or unavoidable. <br /> <br /> 1306.20 FLUE CONNECTIONS REQUIRED. <br /> Every appliance or piece of equipment burning solid, liquid or gaseous fuel, where <br />permitted, shall be connected to an approved smoke pipe and flue. However, any appliance <br />approved for use without such connections is exempted from the requirements of this section. <br /> <br /> 1306.21 PROHIBITED LOCATIONS OF HEATING EQUIPMENT. <br /> No heating equipment, including water heaters, which burns solid, liquid or gaseous fuel <br />shall be located in any bedroom, bathroom, toilet room or any room used for sleeping purposes <br />unless specifically approved for such use. <br /> <br /> 1306.22 ELECTRICAL FACILITIES. <br /> Every habitable room of a dwelling shall contain at least two separate electric <br />convenience outlets, or one such convenience outlet and one supplied electric light fixture. <br />Every water closet compartment, bathroom, laundry room, furnace room and public hall shall <br />contain at least one supplied ceiling or wall-type electdc light fixture and one electrical <br />convenience outlet. Every dwetling and occupiable structure provided with electrical service, <br />outlets and fixtures shall be installed and maintained so as to be free of any potential source of <br />ignition of combustible matedai or any potential source of electrical hazard. Such facilities shall <br />be approved as being adequate to supply the requirements of lighting, appliances and <br />equipment of the dwelling or occupiable structure. <br /> <br /> 1306.23 LIGHTING OF PUBLIC HALLS AND STAIRWAYS. <br /> (a) Every public hail and intedor and extedor stairway in every multiple dwelling <br />containing five or more dwelling units per floor shall be adequately lighted at all times, naturally <br />or artificially, to provide the illumination of not less than one foot-candle on every part thereof. <br /> <br /> (b) Every public hall and interior and extedor stairway, in structures containing not more <br />than four dwelling units per floor and in occupiable structures may be supplied with conveniently <br />located light switches controlling an adequate light system which may be turned on when <br />needed, instead of full-time lighting. <br /> <br /> 1306,24 MEANS OF EGRESS. <br /> Every dwelling unit and occupiable structure shall have a minimum of two safe <br />unobstructed means of egress leading to safe and open space at ground level unless otherwise <br />permitted by the Building Code. <br /> <br /> Habitable spaces: Sleeping rooms - No room shall be used for sleeping unless the room <br />is equipped with not less than one operable window or extedor door approved for emergency <br />rescue. Where windows are provided the bottom of the Window shall be not more than 44 <br />inches above the floor. The window shall have a clear space of not less than 5.7 square feet <br />and the minimum dimensions shall be not less than 24 inches by 20 inches. Storm windows, <br />screens and safety guards shall be easily opened from the inside. <br /> <br /> 1306.25 SCREENS. <br /> Every window and door used or intended to be used for ventilation, and every opening to <br />a cellar or basement which might provide an entry for rodents or insects, shall be supplied with <br />a screen or such other device as will effectively prevent their entrance. <br /> <br /> 1306.26 RUBBISH STORAGE AND DISPOSAL FACILITIES. <br /> Every occupant of a dwelling, dwelling unit or occupiable structure shall establish and <br />maintain rubbish storage facilities adequate to contain all of the rubbish stored on the premises <br />and resulting from the use or occupancy of the building or structure. Rubbish stored outdoors <br />shall be contained in fly-tight, rodent,resistant, nonflammable and reasonably waterproof <br />containers. Rubbish stored inside of buildings shall be stored in nonflammable containers. No <br />person shall place or keep rubbish elsewhere than in such containers. Every occupant of a <br />dwelling, dwelling unit or occupiable structure shall dispose of all of his rubbish in a clean and <br />sanitary manner by placing it in containers as herein set forth. <br /> <br /> <br />
