14.08 Except for emergencies, employees who report off from work because they are sick shall not be <br />eligible for overtime for twenty four (24) hours.from the start of the shif~ from which they called offsick. <br />Such employees shall not be called for overtime for that period. <br /> <br />ARTICLE <br /> <br />EQUALIZATION OF OVERTIME <br /> <br />15.01 The City shall be the sole judge of the necessity of overtime. When overtime is necessary, the <br />City shall offer the available overtime to employees who are classified for the available work within the <br />same division and shift, in accordance with seniority, on a rotating basis. An employee shall have the <br />right to waive his right under this provision and will not be eligible for overtime unless the waiver is <br />withdrawn, in'writing, by the employee. If an emergency is declared by the Mayor, the Director of Public <br />Works or the Acting Director of Public Works, the City shall maintain the right to require the waived <br />employee to work overtime. <br /> <br />15.02 Aider classified employees have been offered the overtime, the 'City shall offer any remaining <br />overtime to qualified employees in that division, in accordance with seniority, on a rotating basis. <br /> <br />15.03 If an insufficient number of employees accept-the overtime work, the City shall then offer any <br />remaining overtime to qualified employees from the city-wide seniority list, in accordance with seniority, <br />on a rotating basis. <br /> <br />15.04 If a sufficient number of employees still have not been obtained and the situation constitutes an <br />emergency (as declared by the Mayor, the Director of Public Works or the Acting Director of Public <br />· Works), the City may assign the work to qualified employees from the city-wide seniority list in reverse <br />order of seniority. <br /> <br />15.05 Classified employees who refuse overtime in their current classification shall not be eligible for <br />overtime in another classification for that same call out. <br /> <br />15.06 Snow Plowing/Salting <br /> <br />When snow plowing/salting overtime is necessary, the City shall offer the available Overtime <br />to employees, who are qualified for the available work within the same division, in <br />accordance with seniority, on a rotating basis. An employee shall have the right to waive his <br />right under this provision and will not be eligible for overtime unless the waiver is <br />withdrawn, in writing, by the employee. <br /> <br />If an insufficient number of employees accept the overfi~e work, the City shall then offer <br />any remaining oVertime to qualified employees from the city-wide seniority list, in <br />accordance with seniority, on a rotating basis. <br /> <br />CJ <br /> <br />If an insufficient number of employees accept the overtime work, the City may then assign <br />the overtime work to qualified employees in reverse order of seniority from the city-wide <br />seniority list. <br /> <br />il <br /> <br /> <br />
