DEFERRED 4/19/04. <br /> <br /> ORDINANCE NO. 31-o4 <br /> BY; Corrigan, Demro, Dever, Dunn, FitzGerald, <br /> <br /> An ORDINANCE to amend section 1321.02, Registration by Building <br />CommisSioner, of the C~odified Ordinances of the City of Lakewood for the purpose of <br />updating registration fees of contractors performing work within the City of Lakewood. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the fee for a contractor's registration for persons engaging in heating <br />and air conditioning, hydronics, electrical or plumbing work was last amended in 1991, <br />and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the cost to the City of administering the contractor's registration <br /> programs has increased substantially since 1991, and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, this ordinance is necessary for the public health, welfare and safety. <br /> Now therefore, <br /> <br /> BE ~' ORDAINED BY THE C¥1'Y OF LAKEWOOD, STATE OF OHIO <br /> <br /> Section 1. That Section 1321.02, Registration by Building Commissioner, of the <br />Codified O~'dinances of the City of Lakewood currently reads as follows: <br /> <br /> 1321.02 REGISTRATION BY BUTLDING COMMISSIONER. <br /> <br /> (a) The Building Commissioner shall maintain a list of Registered Contractors <br />by Trade. The Commissioner shall record the name of any contractor, being an <br />individual or a business entity, on the List of Registered Contractors upon providing the <br />Commissioner with the following: <br /> <br />(1) A valid and unexpired license issued for the year and the trade for <br />which registration is sought, pursuant to Ohio Revised Code Chapter 4740. <br />Where a contractor seeks registration for work pertaining only to one, two <br />and three family properties and does not have a state issued license, the <br />Building Commissioner may accept a valid license issued by another City, <br />which in the opinion of the Commissioner, has a qualified examination; or <br />a successfully completed wdtten examination based upon the applicable <br />codes and ordinances, conducted by the Building Commissioner, <br />evidencing the registrant's ability to perform work in the trade for which <br />registration is sought. <br /> <br />(2) Contractor's liability insurance, including but without limitation, for <br />bodily injury in the amount of one hundred thousand dollars/three <br />hundred thousand dollars ($100,000/$300,000), and for property damage <br />in the amount of at least fiPcy thousand dollars ($50,000) or such greater <br />amounts as permitted by Ohio R.C. 4740.06(B)(4). <br /> <br />(3) A completed "Request for Registration/Renewal of Registration" form <br />as prescribed by the Building Commissioner. <br /> <br />(4) A fee of fifb/dollars ($50.00) for the registration and, if applicable, a <br />fee of fifty do ars ($50.00) for the testing provided for in paragraph (1) <br />above. <br /> <br /> <br />
