Placed on first reading and <br />referred to Finance Committee <br />11/20/06 Placed on second <br />reading 12/4/06 Deferred <br />12/18/06 <br /> <br />Ordinance No. 75-06 By' Antonio, Butler, Demro, Dever, <br /> F%tzGerald, Madigan, Seelie, <br />An Ordinance to amend Ordinance No. 31-04 pertaining to Section 1321.02 <br />Registration by Building Commissioner of the Codified Ordinances of the City of <br />Lakewood, adopted May 4~ 2004, for the purpose of updating registration fees of <br />contractors performing work within the City of Lakewood to go into effect on I~larch 1, <br />2007~ <br /> <br />Wh,ereas, the City wishes to attCact large-scale development'; and <br /> <br />Whereas, in order to compete for and to attract large-scale development, the city <br />must have a competitive fee structure; and <br /> <br />Whereas, competitive fee structures will keep the cost of doing business in <br />Lakew0od equitable <br /> <br />Whereas, after a comprehensive review of our permit fee structure and an analysis <br />of our neighboring communities fee structures, the Administration is recommending <br />the increase of vadous fees; and <br /> <br />Whereas, these adjustments will result in the stimulation and furthering of economic <br />activity, especially in the area Of new construction Nowtherefora, <br /> <br />BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY OF LAKEWOOD, STATE OF OHIO' <br /> <br /> Section1 <br />as follows: <br /> <br />That Ordinance No 31-04. adop;~ed May 4, 2004, currently reading <br /> <br />1321 02 REGISTRATION BY BUILDING COMMISSIONER. <br /> (a) The Building Commissioner shall maintain a list of Registered <br />Contractors by Trade. The Commissioner shall record the name of any contractor, <br />being an individual or a business entity, on the List of Registered Contractors upon <br />providing the Commissioner with the following: <br /> <br /> (1) A valid and unexpired license issued for the year and the <br />trade for which registration is sought, pursuant to Ohio Revised Code Chapter 4740. <br />Where a contractor seeks registration for work pertaining only to one, two and three <br />family properties and does hot have a state issued license, the Building Commissioner <br />may accept a valid license issued by another City, which in the opinion of the <br />commissioner, has a qualified examination; or a successfully completed wdtten <br />examination based upon the applicable codes and ordinances, conducted by the <br />Building Commissioner, evidencing the registrant's ability to perform work in the trade <br />for which registration is sought: <br /> <br /> (2) Contractor's liability insurahce, including but without limitation, <br />for bgdily injury in the amount of One Hundred Thousand DollarsFrhree Hundred <br />Thousand Dollars ($100,000/$300,000), and for property damage in the amount of at <br />least Fifty Thousand Dollars ($50,000) or such greater amounts as permitted by Ohio <br />Revised Code §4740 06(B)(4) <br /> <br /> (3) A completed 'Request for Registrat'on/Renewal of Registration <br />form as prescribed by the Building Commissioner. <br /> <br /> (4) A fee of Seventy-Five ($75,00) for the registration and, if <br />applicable, a fee of Seventy-Five ($75 00) for the testing provided for in subsection (1) <br />above <br /> <br /> <br />
