(e) Requlafions to be Posted. The operator of a public swimming pool shall <br />post suitable placards embodying such personal regulations and instructions as required <br />in this section. <br /> <br /> 1721.17 PUBLIC POOLS: CLEANL~'N;:~ OF POOL AND ENVIRONS, <br /> (a) Daily Cleansing. At least once each day, when a public swimming pool is <br />in use, the bottom of the pool shall be completely cleansed and all sediment and other <br />foreign matter removed by a vacuum cleaner or other equally efficient means, and the <br />overflow trOugh completely cleaned and all Sediment and foreign matter removed <br />therefrom. <br /> <br /> (b) Weekly Cleansina; At least once each seven days the sides shall be <br />thoroughly scrubbed and cleaned. Each filter shall be thoroughly backwashed and each <br />hair and lint catcher completely emptied and bhoroughly cleaned. <br /> <br /> (c) General Requirements. The buildings, grounds, dressing rooms and all <br />other swimming pool taCiliUes shall be kept clean and in a Sanitary condition and <br />maintained free from garbage, trash and other refuse. <br /> <br /> 1721.18 PUBLIC POOLS: CHLORINATION, <br /> ChlorinatiOn plants shall be Operated in such manner that the amount of excess <br />or residual chlorine in all parts of the pool at alt times when the pool is in use shall not <br />be less than four-tenths part per million, or more than one part per million. The <br />Chlorinator and tanks shall be installed in a special closet with vent to the exterior of the <br />building and with a fan, unless considered unnecessary by the Commissioner of Health, <br /> <br /> 1721,19 PUBLIC POOLS: WATER QUAL1TY. <br /> The bacterial quality of water in the Pool shall be maintained so that no two <br />successive samples nor more t]]an fifteen percent of any number of successive samples <br />shall cOntain more than 200 bacteria per cubic centimeter, nor show positive confirmed <br />results for coliaerogenes, <br /> The CommiS~i0ner of Health may require samples to be taken and submitted for <br />test whenever he Considers it necessary for the safe operation of any pool, provided <br />however that such samples shall be taken and submitted not less often than once a <br />month. <br /> <br /> :~72:~,20 RECORDS. : <br />The person in charge of each public swimming pool shall cause to be kept <br />complete records, in form prescribed by the Commissioner of Health, showing the <br />following information: <br /> (a) The number of swimmers in such pool each day; <br /> (b) The temperature of the water in an indoor swimming pool, taken at east <br /> Once during the morning and once during the afternOon of each day the <br /> pool is used; <br /> (c) The temperature of the air in the pool room of an indoor swimming pool, <br /> similarly taken; <br /> (dj The amount of residual chlorine or other bactericide in the water of the <br /> pool; tested at least once in the morning and once in the afternoon of <br /> each day the pool is used, together with the name or initials of the person <br /> testing to determine such amount; <br /> (e) The dates on which the filters are backwashed; <br /> The dates on which the hair and lint catchers are cleaned; <br /> The nUmber of gallons of water per day recirculated in the pool; <br /> The date on which each sample is taken for bacterial count, and the name <br /> or initials of the person taking such sample; <br /> (i) Such further information as may be required by the Commissioner of <br /> Health in order to determine whether the pool is being safely operated. <br /> <br /> 172:3,.2! PERSONNEL RE(~UIRED. <br /> (a) Ooeratin~ Personnel. EaChpublic swimming poo sha be operated under <br />the close supervision of a well trained andresponsible operator or operators, capable of <br />making field tests such as residual chlorine or Other bactericide, andthoroughiy familiar <br />with the oPeration of all mechanical appurtenances of the pool. Any such operator shall, <br />upon request, demonstrate to the satisfaction of the Commissioner of Health, his ability <br />to perform his required duties. <br /> <br /> (b) Lifec~uards. A sufficient number of attendants shall be on duty when the <br />swimming poor is in use and such attendants shall be capable swimmers~ competent in <br />life-saving me~hbds and resuscitation.
