lint catcher, piping connectiQns to inlets and outlets and all other <br /> necessary fixtures and connections. <br /> All equiPment must be readily accessible and every pool shall be provided <br /> with necessary equipment for the measurement of acidity or alkalinity and <br /> for residual determinations. <br />(g) Tndicatino Recordinq, Totalizinq Znstruments. Etc. When necessary in <br /> the opinion of the Commissioher of Health, indicating recording and <br /> totalizing instruments, flow-meters or indicators and pressure gauges shall <br /> be installed at such points as may be designated by the Commissioner of <br /> Health. <br />(h) Hair and Lint Catcher. The pump suction line of the recirculating system <br /> shall be provided with a hair and lint catcher. <br />(i) Hose. Hose connections and hoses must be of ample size and pressure to <br /> clean all of the pool area. <br />O) Towers and Step_s. Steps and ladders must be made of an imperviousf <br />corrosion resistant material, with a uniform rise not to exceed twelve <br />inches. The decks of diving towers which are over one meter high shall be <br />protected with suitable railings to prevent falling~ except into the water. <br />(k) Liohtin~ Where a family pool is used during the hours of darkness, <br /> illumination of the pool surface, and for a distance of ten feet from the <br /> edge of the pool, shall be maintained between the limits of two and five <br /> foot-candies of light (approximately one-half watt per square foot of the <br /> area required to be illuminated, where lights are placed not over ten feet <br /> abOve and within the limits of the area). All lighting and wiring shall be in <br /> accordance with the National Electrical Code and all fixtures and <br /> equipment shall be "UL" approved. <br /> <br /> 1721.24. BATHERS WiTH COJ4J4UNICABLE D:JSEASES. <br /> No person having any communicable skin disease, sore or inflamed eyes, cod, <br />nasal or ear discharge, or any other communicable disease, shall use or be permitted to <br />use any swimming pool. Tt~e person in Charge of anY swimming pool shall exclude <br />therefrom any person suspectedof having any such ailment. <br /> <br /> 1721,25 FA~qILY POOLS: CLEANLINESS OF POOL AND ENV~*ROI~$, <br /> (a) Daily Cleansino. At least once each day, when a family swimming poo s <br />in use, the bottom of each swimming pool shall be completely cleansed and a <br />sediment and other foreign matter removed by vacuum cleaner or other equally <br />efficient means. Zf an ~verflow trough is provided it shall be completely cleansed and all <br />sediment and foreign matter removed therefrom. <br /> <br /> (b) Weeldv Cleansina. At least once each seven days the s des of each faro y <br />swimming pool and the overflow trough shall be thoroughly scrubbed and c eaned; <br />each filter shall be thoroughly back-washed and each hair and lint catcher comp etely <br />emptied and thoroughly cleaned. <br /> <br /> (c) General Reauirements. All swimming pool facilities, including grounds <br />used Jn connection therewith, ~h~ll be kept clean and ~n a sanitary condition and <br />maintained free from garbage, trash and other refuse. <br /> <br /> 172:L,:26 FANI:[LY POOLS: CHLOI~NAT~ON. <br /> Chlorination shall be accomplished in such manner that the amount of excess or <br />residual chlorine in ail parts of the pool at ail times when the pool is in use shall not be <br />less than four- tenths part per million, or more than one part per mi lion. Where a gas <br />chlor netor is used it shall be installed in an enclosure other than a dwelling or attached <br />garage and vented to ~he outside by louvers or forced ventilation, subject to the <br />approval of the Commissioner of Health. <br /> <br /> 1721,27 ~:A~4][LY POOL~: WATER QUALI'TY. <br /> The bacterial quality of water in the pool shall be maintained so that no two <br />successive samples, nor more than fifteen percent of any number of successive <br />sam~oles, shall contain more than 200 bacteria per cubic centimeter, nor show positive <br />connrmed results for coliaerogenes. The Commissioner of Hen th may require <br />samples to be taken and submitted for test whenever he considers it necessary for the <br />safe operation of any pool. <br /> <br /> 1721.2S OPERAT[J~G PERSONNEL. <br /> Each family swimming poOl shall be operated under the supervson of a <br />responsible adult, capable of making field tests such as residual Chlorine, and <br />thoroughly familiar with the operation of all mechanical appurtenances of the pool.
