It also <br />marked 10 years since lakewood Hospital became <br /> <br />part of the Cleveland Clinic health system. Ten years <br />ago, we made promises to the community. We have <br />held true to these promises. Cleveland Clinic is <br />honored to have lakewood Hospital as a partner <br />and to be part of the hospital's great legacy of care <br />in the community <br /> <br />Promise... <br /> <br />Promise... <br /> <br />To ensure the future viability of lakewood Hospital <br />· As part of a regional hospital network, we have been <br />able to share resources, adopt best practices, attract top <br />talent, and develop a network of primary care physicians <br />· City officials continue to participate in hospital <br />governance and provide advice and counsel in all <br />financial and patient service related decisions. <br />· In addition to our promise to maintain the hospital <br />facility and provide equipment and technology to <br />meet all patient service needs, we make an annual <br />payment of $1 million to the city <br />· We serve as the largest employer in the city, providing <br />jobs for more than 1,300 people. <br /> <br />Promise... <br /> <br />To carryon a tradition of excellence in clinical care <br />through investments and enhancements <br />· $9 million expansion and renovation of the Emergency <br />Department and a $1 9 million renovation to the <br />hospital's main lobby, cafeteria and physician work area. <br />· Opening of the Cleveland Clinic Pain Management <br />Center and investment of $322,000 for the opening of <br />a new, comprehensive Diabetes Center <br />· $1.6 million upgrade for the Neuro Integrated Care <br />Unit; a $2.6 million investment in the Coronary Care <br />Unit; and a $250,000 upgrade to the Obstetrics Unit <br />· Bringing health care closer to the community with <br />new practices, including lakewood Medical Associates <br />in Rockport and in Beachcliff, and the Vein and <br />Vascular Center <br />· Part of the support network for the state-sponsored <br />Main Street Program designed to revitalize downtown <br />Lakewood <br /> <br />These major investments are examples of many in the <br />first 10 years of our agreement. And our annual operating <br />plan of nearly $100 million supports numerous local <br />organizations <br /> <br />To offer programming to meet the changing health needs <br />of the community <br />· In 1999, the Project H EA.L. (Health Emerging Around <br />Lakewood) community partnership was formed to create <br />an action plan to address the most prominent unmet <br />health needs in the community. <br />· North Coast Health Ministry is a partner in caring for <br />the uninsured/underinsured of the community. <br />· The Lakewood Cares Coaiition partnership with <br />Lakewood City Schools includes a comprehensive obesity <br />study of grade school students to monitor and address <br />this national childhood obesity epidemic, as well as <br />the "adoption" of Harrison Elementary, where we are <br />providing exercise and reading help to students. <br />· W lS.H - Women into Saving their Health - offers free <br />mammograms for uninsured/underinsured women. <br />· Lakewood YMCA partnership offers services in the <br />Outpatient Rehabilitation Center, as well as health <br />education and fitness classes <br />· The Teen Health Center is addressing increasing <br />behavioral issues and health screening needs of our youth <br /> <br />Promise... <br /> <br />To constantly improve quality <br />· Quaiity Departments have been integrated across the <br />health system for uniform standards <br />· Fuli accreditation from the Joint CommISsion has been <br />achieved with each survey. <br />· The hospital has received the Ernest A Codman award <br />from Joint Commission for exceptional efforts in iong- <br />term stroke care and for improvements in the treatment <br />of patients with congestive heart failure. <br />· Lakewood received the Medai of Honor from the U.S <br />Department of Health and Human Services for its life- <br />saving organ donation rate. <br />· The Stroke Program is among the first in Ohio to be <br />named a Primary Stroke Center by Joint Commission. <br />· Lakewood has been named one of the top 100 U.S. <br />hospitals in orthopaedics <br />
