Proposed Ordinance 53-10. Substituted October 18, 2010. (1) Within the maximum sign face area for permanent signs established for the Ci, C2, C3 zoning districts, a single billboard is permitted on a premise provided that it is: A. Located on a plain wall surface and not extending above the roofline or beyond. the end wall. A plain wall is a surface of either brick, wood, masoriry or other material, or a part thereof, without windows, cornices, or other architectural or decorative features. B. Placed flat against and fastened on the building which has such eligible .plain wall surface. C. Containing a sign area not exceeding forty square feet nor more than ten percent (10%) of the eligible wall surface, whichever is less. D. Located at: 1. A minimum of fifty feet from any public right of way; 2. To directly face parking lots, which are located in either side yards or rear yards; 3. So as not to directly face premises in the R-1L, R-1M, R-iH, R2, ML, MH and L zoning districts; and 4. On a wall which is not otherwise in a required yard. E. A maximum of sixteen feet above the ground. F. On vacant lots, the sign area and location of a billboard is governed by subsection (d)(4) hereof. G. The total face area shall not exceed the limits established in subsection (c)(1) hereof. (2) Billboards shall be processed and evaluated by the Board of Building Standards in accordance with the procedures of Section 1329.12, 1329.05(m) and all other applicable regulations in this chapter. (Ord. 52-85. Passed 9-3-85; Ord. 25-96. Passed 10-7-96.) 1329.10 SIGNS: INDUSTRIAL I DISTRICT. Accessory signs in the Industrial I District shall be designed, erected, altered, moved and maintained in whole or in part, in accordance with these regulations. The requirements of the Industrial District shall be the same as the requirements of the Cl, C2 and C3 Districts specified in Section 1329.09, except as otherwise stated herein. (a) Functional Types Permitted. Development signs of a temporary nature, directional signs, identification signs and real estate .signs. (b) Structural Types Permitted. Ground, pole and wall signs. (c) Maximum Sign Face Area. The maximum sign face area of all permanent signs permitted for each separate use occupying a building or unit of a building shall be related to the frontage of the building or unit thereof, as determined by the following formula: Maximum sign face area = W x 3 square feet, except that the total in all cases shall not exceed 100 square feet.
