Proposed Ordinance 53-50. Substituted October 18, 2010. <br />"Maximum sign face area" means the total area of one surface of a permanent <br />sign as defined in Section 1329.04(a). <br />'~W" means the frontage of a building as defined in Section 1329.04(b). <br />(d) Portable Signs and Roof Signs. Portable signs and roof signs shall not be permitted in <br />the I Zoning districts unless permitted by specific provisions of this chapter. <br />(e) Vacant Lots: Signs Permitted. Each vacant lot is permitted a maximum sign area of fifty <br />square feet, limited to a ground sign which shall be located no closer to any street than the <br />required building setback line. <br />(f) Regulations for Billboards. <br />(1) Within the maximum sign face areas for permanent signs established for the I <br />Zoning Districts, a single billboard is permitted on a premise provided that it is: <br />A. Located on a plain wall surface and not exceeding above the roofline <br />or beyond the end wall. A plain wall is a surface of either brick, wood, <br />masonry or other material, or a part thereof, without windows, cornices, <br />or other architectural or decorative features. <br />B. Placed flat against and fastened on the building which has such <br />eligible plain wall surface. <br />C. Containing a sign area not exceeding forty square feet nor ten percent <br />(10%) of the eligible wall surface; whichever is less. <br />D. Located: <br />1. A minimum of fifty feet from any public right of way; <br />2. To directly face parking lots, whichare located in either side <br />yards or rear yards; <br />3. So as not to directly face premises in the R-1L. R-1M, R-1H, <br />R2, ML, MH, and L Zoning Districts; and <br />4. On a wall which is not otherwise in a required yard. <br />E. A maximum of sixteen feet above the ground. <br />F. On vacant lots, the sign area and location of a billboard is governed <br />by subsection (e) hereof. <br />G. The total face area shall not exceed the limits established in <br />subsection (c) hereof. <br />(2) Billboards shall be processed and evaluated by the Board of Building Standards in <br />accordance with the procedures of Section 1329.12, 1329.05(n) and all other <br />applicable regulations in this chapter.
