Proposed Ordinance 53-10. Substituted. October 18, 2010. <br />be related to the frontage of the building or unit thereof, as determined by the <br />following formula: <br />Maximum sign face area = (W x 1.5) square feet, except that the total in <br />all cases shall not exceed 120 square feet. <br />The elements of such formula being defined as follows: <br />°Maximum sign face area" means the total .area of one surface of a <br />permanent sign as defined in Section 1329.04 (a). <br />"W" means the frontage of a building ad defined in Section 1329.04(b). <br />(2) Bulletin boards. One bulletin board not exceeding thirty square feet in area or <br />eight feet in height may be located on the premises of a public charitable, or <br />religious institution, but not less than fifteen feet.. from a street right-of-way line; <br />indirect illumination shall be permitted. <br />(3) Canopy signs. A sign attached to the underside of the canopy at a ninety <br />degree angle to the street, intended for pedestrian visibility. The total area of <br />one face of the sign does not exceed five square feet, the vertical dimension of <br />the. sign does not exceed twelve inches, and the lowest structural member is not <br />less than eight feet above the sidewalk grade. <br />(4) Development signs. One temporary development sign not exceeding fifty square <br />feet in area and ten feet in height shall be permitted on the lot upon which a <br />building is under construction. Signs shall be removed on the issuance of a final <br />occupancy permit. or one year after the period is issued, whichever date occurs <br />first. <br />{5) Directional signs. Two directional signs each not exceeding two square feet in <br />area shall be permitted on any building or lot, but not less than five feet from <br />any lot or street right-of-way line. <br />(6) Ground signs. One ground sign not to exceed forty square feet in area and the <br />top of the sign shall not exceed ten feet in height above the sidewalk grade. <br />(7) Informational signs. One informational ground sign not exceeding six square <br />feet in sign face area may be permitted on any lot, but not less than five feet <br />from any lot or street right-of-way line. <br />(8) Nameplates. One nameplate, not exceeding one square foot in area for each <br />store or office unit in the building, but not exceeding a total of eight nameplates <br />per building, shall be permitted. <br />(9) Pole signs. One pole sign may be located within a required yard of a business lot <br />if approved by the Board of Building Standards. Each face of the pole sign shall <br />not exceed forty square feet in area;. the top of the sign. shall not exceed sixteen <br />feet in height above sidewalk grade; the bottom of the sign face shall be not less <br />than eight feet above sidewalk grade; no part of the sign shall project over the <br />sidewalk, and when the sign is in proximity to a vehicular access drive a <br />protective barrier shall be provided around the base of the pole sign structure. <br />Page 9 of 28 <br />
