(a) <br />The meaning of lane-use cmrh•ol signal indications are as follows: <br />(1) A Steady Downward Green Arrow: Vehicular traffic may travel in <br />any lane over which a green arrow signal is shown. <br />(2) A Steady Yellow "X": Vehicular traffic is warned to vacate in a <br />safe manner any lane over which such signal is shown to avoid occupying <br />that lane when a steadv red "X" siaual is shown. <br />(3) A steadv white two-way left-tarn arrow: A road user is permit- <br />ted to use a lane over which the signal indicatiar is located for a left <br />turn, but not For through travel, with the understanding that conunon <br />use of the lane by oncoming road asers for left tm•ns also is permitted. <br />(4) A steadv white one-wav left-turn arrow: A road user is permit- <br />ted to use a lane over which the signal indication is located for a left <br />turn, without opposing turns in the same lane, but not for through <br />travel. <br />(~F}(5) A Steady Red "X": Vehicular traffic shall not enter or Navel in any <br />lane over which such signal is shown. (ORC 4511.131) <br />(b) Except as otherwise provided in this subsection, whoever violates this sec- <br />tion rs guilty of a minor misdemeanor. If, within one year of the offense, <br />the offender previously has been convicted of or pleaded guilty to one <br />predicate motor vehicle or traffic offense, whoever violates thts section is <br />guilty of a misdemeanor of the fourth degree. If, within one year of the of- <br />fense, the offender previously has been convicted of two or more predicate <br />motor vehicle or traffic offenses, whoever violates this section is guilty of <br />a misdemeanor of the third degree. (ORC 4511.99) <br />SECTION 3. Section 313.05, Pedesttiau Control Signals, currently reading as follows: <br />313.05 PEDESTRIAN CONTROL SIGNALS. <br />(a) Whenever special pedestrian signals exhibiting the words "walk" or "don't <br />walk," or the symbol of a walking person or an upraised paten are in place, <br />such signals shall indicate the following instructions: <br />(1) "Walk" or the symbol of a walking_person: Pedestrians facing such <br />signal may proceed across the roadway in the direction of the sig- <br />nal and shall be given the right of way by the operators of all vehi- <br />cles. <br />(2) "Don't walk" or the symbol of an upraised palm: No pedestrian <br />shall start to cross the roadwayy in the direction of the signal. <br />(3) Nothing in this section shall be construed to invalidate the contin- <br />ued use of pedestrian control signals utilizing the word "wait" if <br />those signals were installed prior to Match 28, 1985. <br />(b) Except as otherwise provided in this subsection, whoever violates this sec- <br />tion is guilty of a minor misdemeanor.
