lows: <br />Unless otherwise provided in the Codified Ordinances, all meetings of <br />Council, the Board of Building Standards and Building Appeals, the <br />Board of Zoning Appeals, the Board of Control, Civil Service Commis- <br />sion, the Planning Conanission, the Sens,._ Citizen Adviser), G,..,,...it <br />tee; the Citizens Advisory Committee on °10 "^ mock n ^ ^nt^ and other <br />similar public bodies of the City or other citizens' committees as may <br />be appointed from time to time, shall be open to the public, unless an <br />executive session is expressly authorized raider the applicable provi- <br />sions of State law. <br />Nothing herein contained shall mandate that any public body permit <br />public participation in such meetings unless specifically required by the <br />provisions of the Second Amended Charter or the Codified Ordinances. <br />Section 9. Section 127.02, Settlement Authorization, currently reading as fol- <br />127.02 SETTLEMENT AUTHORIZATION. <br />(a) The Director of Law or any Assistant Director of Law designated by <br />the Director may adjust, settle, compromise or submit to arbitration any <br />action, cause of action, account, debt, claim, demand, dispute or other <br />matter in favor of or against the City, or in which the City is concerned <br />as debtor or creditor, now existing or which may hereafter arise. The <br />power and authority provided for herein shall include, but is not limited <br />to, the power and authority to settle claims for damages and loss in civil <br />actions for injury, death or loss to persons or property allegedly caused <br />by any act or omission, whether governmental or proprietary, of the <br />City or by an official or employee of the City, provided the act or omis- <br />sion of the official or employee occurred or is alleged to have occurred <br />while such official or employee was acting in good faith and not mani- <br />festly outside the scope of his employment or official responsibilities. <br />(b) Settlement of claims, other than moral claims referred to the Small <br />Claims Commission pursuant to Chapter 151, and not exceeding seven <br />thousand, five hundred dollars ($7,500), shall be subject to the approval <br />of the Mayor and the Law Director. Settlement of claims above seven <br />thousand, five hundred dollars ($7,500), and not exceeding twenty -five <br />thousand dollars ($25,000), shall be subject to the approval of either the <br />Council Finance Committee or the Council Committee of the Whole by <br />written report thereof, signed by a majority of the members of either of <br />the respective Committees. Settlement of claims exceeding twenty-five <br />thousand dollars ($25,000) shall be subject to the approval of Council <br />pursuant to ordinance or resolution. <br />(c) Nothing in this section shall be construed to constitute a waiver of <br />any immunity or defense of the City or its employees, or as a modifica- <br />tion of the terms of present or future insurance policies purchased by <br />the City. <br />shall be and hereby is amended to read as follows: <br />127.02 SETTLEMENT AUTHORIZATION. <br />
