RESOLUTION NO. <br /> <br />6731-92 <br /> <br /> BY: Boscia,.Seelie, <br />George, Gibbons, Roth,'$mith.. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, a resolution authorizing the Mayor to enter <br />into a letter of intent with the Cuyahoga County Solid Waste <br />Management District to determine the feasibility of establishing <br />a municipal marketing cooperative for old newspapers; <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the Ohio Solid Waste Law requires that the <br />State and County solid waste management districts establish and <br />implement a plan to recycle 25% of the solid waste produced by <br />residents, business and industry; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the Board of Cuyahoga County Commissioners, <br />acting on behalf of directors of the Cuyahoga County Solid Waste <br />Management District (the "District"), is in the process of <br />preparing a plan and the steps to implement such plan; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the District has proposed <br />cooperative to market newspapers (a major <br />residential solid waste) which would assist <br />meeting its goal of 25% recycling; and <br /> <br /> to establish a <br /> component of <br />the District in <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, <br />its projected <br />projected costs <br />therefore, <br /> <br /> such cooperative will only be established if <br />costs are less than the City of Lakewood's <br />of disposing newspapers in a landfill; now, <br /> <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY OF LAKEWOOD, STATE OF OHIO: <br /> <br /> Section 1. That the City of Lakewood shall engage in <br />cooperative planning activities with the County Solid Waste <br />Management District to determine whether it is feasible for the <br />City to participate in a newspaper recycling cooperative along <br />with other political subdivisions to conserve resources and <br />assist in meeting the State's recycling goal and to reduce the <br />City's expense for disposal of newspapers. <br /> <br /> Section 2. That the Mayor be and he is <br />authorized to execute the attached letter of intent <br />Cuyahoga City Solid Waste Management District and <br />appropriate actions to carry out its terms. <br /> <br /> hereby <br />with the <br /> to take <br /> <br /> Section 3.
