RESOLUTION NO. 7244-97 BY: Boscia, Corrigan, Flanner¥, <br /> George, Roth, Seelie, Smith <br /> <br /> A RESOLUTION to designate July as "Parks and Recreation Month" in <br />the City of Lakewood. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the City of Lakewood and the Lakewood Board of Education <br />work together to provide our citizens a full range of recreational programs, outstanding <br />facilities and well-maintained parks; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, parks and recreational activities enhance the physical health <br />and mental well-being of individuals, work forces, and communities; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, parks and open space are vital to the appearance and <br />livabilitity of communities, protect our air and water, and balance our ecosystem; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the City of Lakewood installed over $130,000 in park <br />improvements-in 1996 including new playground equipment for Wagar and Kauffman <br />Parks, and 70 new picnic tables; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the City of Lakewood has established an aggressive turf <br />renovation and field maintenance program for all sports and open green spaces to <br />enhance the attractiveness and playability of parks; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the City of Lakewood offers a complete menu of recreational <br />activities to its citizens of all ages at reasonable cost including a miniature golf course <br />and year round multi-surface ice arena; now, therefore, <br /> <br />BE It RESOLVED BY THE CITY Of LAKEWOOD. STATE OF OHIO: <br /> <br /> Section 1. That this Council and Mayor recognize the employees of the <br />City of Lakewood, Division of Parks and Properties, and the staff of the Recreation <br />Department of the Lakewood Schools for their dedicated service to the citizens of <br />Lakewood. <br /> <br /> Section 2. That the Clerk of Council be and she is hereby authorized and <br />directed to forward a certified copy of this Resolution to the Ohio Parks and Recreation <br />Association, 1069A W.
