Consisting of 31 acres along the
shores of lake Erie, the park provides nearly 1/3 mile of coastline offering unprecedented views of
Lake Erie and Downtown Cleveland. Over the last decade, the City of Lakewood has made
substantial capital investments in the park, including a children's wade pool (2002) and the
Lakefront Promenade Phase 1(2006).
Lakewood Park is the gathering place for the community, hosting live outdoor concerts, ball games,
and the annual Fourth of July fireworks display. The park also serves as the City's only public access
to the lakefront This important fact has prompted this request for proposals to complete the public
access improvements made in 2006 along the park's waterfront.
An existing master plan exists for Lakewood Park was created in 2001 and amended in 2004. The
original plan called for a robust promenade along the entirety of the park's waterfront In 2006,
Phase I of the waterfront promenade was completed, including handicap accessible ramp to the
3
Lakewood Park Phase 11 RFP - April 2013
