18.10 Employees who have accumulated more than one hundred and twenty (120) days of sick <br />time may convert on a three -to -one basis all days accumulated over one hundred and twenty <br />(120) days into a lump sum cash payment at the end of each calendar year. Payment to be <br />received during the month of January. The lump sum is part of the employee's regular check. <br />18.11 hi the event an employee becomes or continues to be incapacitated from work by illness or <br />injury, after exhaustion of his or her acquired sick time, they may apply for donations of time <br />according to the Sick Time Donation policy. <br />18.12 Any abuse or patterned use of sick time shall be just and sufficient cause for disciplinary <br />action. <br />ARTICLE 19 SICK LEAVE WITHOUT PAY <br />19.01 A full -time, hourly employee who has completed their probationary period may be <br />granted a leave of absence without pay (except to the extent they may be entitled to sick pay) for <br />a period not to exceed six (6) months because of personal illness or injury. The employee may, <br />at their option, use any vacation pay prior to going on sick leave without pay. The City will abide <br />by the provisions of the Federal Family Medical Leave Act. <br />ARTICLE 20 PERSONAL LEAVE <br />20.01 A full -time employee who has completed their probationary period may be granted time <br />off without pay for a period not to exceed thirty (30) calendar days in duration. Said personal <br />leave shall be granted by the Administrative Captain, provided concurrence and approval are <br />obtained from the Chief of Police. It is agreed that a request for personal leave will not be <br />unreasonably denied. It is further agreed that the employee requesting personal leave shall give <br />the City a minimum of two (2) weeks' written notice, except in cases of extreme emergency. <br />20.02 Should an employee require additional time over the thirty (30) day limit, an additional <br />written request shall be presented for approval to the Chief of Police, with concurrence by the <br />Mayor. <br />20.03 An employee shall not accumulate seniority during personal leave of absence. <br />20.04 Employees found to be using the personal leave for purposes other than for the reasons <br />granted shall be subject to discipline up to and including termination. <br />20.05 An employee may not take an extended personal leave in order to work another job. <br />ARTICLE 21 LAYOFFS <br />21.01 Whenever it is necessary for the City to reduce its forces, Dispatcher shall be laid off in <br />the following order: <br />15 <br />
