Provide a narrative description of your idea in 250 words or less. Attach a separate sheet if necessary:
This proposal is for the addition of three cameras and a production workstation in the City Hall Auditorium to
enhance the quality of meeting recordings. Cameras will be added to the left and right of the dais in order to
view the administration and another camera will be added to view the public speaker using the lectern. The
cameras will be integrated with existing equipment and operated by Council's Legislative Liaison for Council
meetings. Additional employees at City Hall may be trained on the system for use at other public meetings.
2. Briefly explain how this will benefit the community:
Because they are comprised of a single shot from one camera, the current recordings of public meetings can be
confusing to viewers. For example, it is difficult to tell who is speaking and there is no view of the podium.
Members of the public who visit the City's website to view Council meetings will benefit from a higher quality,
more professional recording.
3. Estimated expense (provide a range):
$43,180 for three additional cameras
4. If applicable, summarize any proposals or discussions from the past that are related to this priority.
This was discussed in 2016 immediately following the initial upgrade of the auditorium. Information Systems
requested a quote at that time and it was placed in the 2017 capital budget for consideration.
011 Reso 9020 -18 -as substituted by Finance 1011118
