game of soccer which have earned him a place on the United Soccer Coaches All- <br />American Team. (pg. 99) <br />Motion by Council President O'Leary, seconded by Vice President Anderson to adopt <br />Resolution 9047-19. <br />Discussion: Councilmember Litten recognized the role of Malvin's coaches, teammates, and <br />guardians in his athletic success. He recognized the quality of Coath Toth's soccer program. <br />President O'Leary remarked that the LHS alumni on Council take special pride in this <br />accomplishment and congratulated Mr. Gblah and his supporters. <br />On the motion: All members voted in favor. Motion passed. Resolution 9047-19 adopted. <br />Coach Toth remarked on the LHS Soccer team's diversity and common passion for soccer. <br />He expressed pride representing Lakewood at the All-American level. He credited teachers, <br />administrators, the athletic director and the community of players and their families. He <br />praised the futsol courts at Madison Park. <br />23. Communication from Councilmember George regarding paid parental leave policy for <br />full-time City employees. (pg. 100) <br />Motion by President O'Leary, seconded by Vice President Anderson to receive and file the <br />communication. <br />All members voted in favor. Motion passed. <br />24. ORDINANCE 01-19 — AN ORDINANCE to establish paid parental leave benefits for <br />full-time employees of the City of Lakewood. (pg. 102) <br />President O'Leary discussed the possible committees to which this could be referred and his <br />rationale for each. <br />At the request of Councilmember Anderson, Mayor Summers described the current paid <br />leave options available to employees. Mayor Summers stated that the City's current offering <br />are very generous and that no employee has been unable to have a fully funded maternity <br />leave under the current structure. <br />Councilmember George remarked that the issue is about equality and that men do not have to <br />use their sick time to recover from childbirth. <br />
