(to be provided)
Councilmember O'Malley delivered the following oral communication:
Lakewood has passed a similar resolution previously, unfortunately, this bill has been
introduced in just about every General Assembly for the past 12 years. It actually did pas the
Ohio House in 2009 but died there. It seems to be slowly gaining momentum. It did get a
hearing in the last Ohio House session and actually has a republican co-sponsor this year in
the House. I think it is important that we pass this resolution because the Ohio Fairness Act
was introduced in the House by our own State Representative Mike Skindell and our own State
Senator Nickie Antonio. Discrimination protections in the state are enjoyed only by some
people. I am proud to say, including the residents of Lakewood because we passed Ordinance
9
