Management shall have the sole and exclusive discretion to establish what shifts, among the <br /> following, are staffed: <br /> 1 st Shift 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. <br /> 2nd Shift 3 p.m. to 11 p.m. <br /> 3rd Shift 11 p.m. to 7 a.m. <br /> Swing Shift variable <br /> Subject to the approval of the Chief of Police, whose approval shall not be unreasonably denied, <br /> existing employees, on a seniority basis, shall be afforded the opportunity to select their shift <br /> assignment by November 1 of the preceding year. <br /> 13.07 All new bargaining unit employees must sign up for direct deposit upon hire. All current <br /> bargaining unit employees must sign up for direct deposit within 60 days of the ratification of this <br /> contract. <br /> 13.08 A compensatory time bank will be established, effective on the date this agreement is <br /> ratified by the parties. Employees shall be eligible to receive either compensatory time or overtime <br /> at the rate of time and one-half or the applicable overtime rate if not time and one-half. Employees <br /> may accumulate no more than 40- 0_hours of compensatory time. Employees eligible for such <br /> time shall have the right to receive overtime pay or FLSA compensatory time. The employee will <br /> choose his or her option on the appropriate form established by the employer in Precinct Manager. <br /> Approval for use of compensatory time for time off will be based on the needs of the department <br /> to the extent use of compensatory time for time off will not be unduly disruptive to the <br /> department's operations. Any time in the compensatory time bank at the time of the employee's <br /> termination will be paid. <br /> ARTICLE 14 <br /> OVERTIME <br /> 14.01 All overtime must be approved by the Chief of Police or his designated representative and <br /> all assigned overtime must be worked and will be compensated for as provided in this Agreement. <br /> 14.02 Any hours of duty in excess of eight(8) hours within an employee's regularly scheduled <br /> work day shall be compensated at the following rates: <br /> A. Time and one-half(1-1/2) for all hours on duty in excess of eight(8) hours. <br /> B. Double time for all hours on duty in excess of twelve (12) hours. <br /> C. Double time for all hours on duty in excess of eight(8) hours on the following holidays: <br /> New Year's Day Martin Luther King, Jr. Day <br /> Memorial Day Veterans' Day <br /> 9 <br />
