ARTICLE 1 <br /> PURPOSE <br /> 1.01 This Agreement is made between the City of Lakewood, Ohio, hereinafter referred to as <br /> the "City," and Ohio Patrolmen's Benevolent Association (OPBA), hereinafter referred to as the <br /> "Union." The "employee" or "employees" where used herein refers to all regular full-time <br /> employees in the bargaining unit. The purpose of this Agreement is to provide a fair and <br /> responsible method of enabling employees covered by this Agreement to participate, through <br /> Union representation, in the establishment of terms and conditions of their employment and to <br /> establish a peaceful procedure for the resolution of all differences between the parties. <br /> ARTICLE 2 <br /> RECOGNITION <br /> 2.01 The OPBA is recognized as the sole and exclusive representative for a bargaining unit of <br /> all regular full-time Corrections Officer employees in the Department of Public Safety for the <br /> purpose of establishing terms and conditions of employment. The City will not recognize any other <br /> union, organization or person as the representative for any of the Corrections Officer employees. <br /> ARTICLE 3 <br /> NON-DISCRIMINATION <br /> 3.01 Both the City and the Union recognize their respective responsibilities under the Federal <br /> and State Civil Rights Law, fair employment practice acts, and other similar constitutional and <br /> statutory requirements. Therefore,both the City and the Union hereby reaffirm their commitments, <br /> legal and moral, not to discriminate in any manner relating to employment on the basis of race, <br /> color, religion, sex, national origin, age, disability, gender identity/expression, genetic <br /> information, military status, veteran status, sexual orientation, union membership or activity, or <br /> ancestry. <br /> 3.02 The City recognizes the right of all Corrections Officers to be free to join the Union. The <br /> City agrees that there shall be no discrimination, interference,restraint, coercion or reprisal by the <br /> City against any employee or any applicant for employment because of Union membership. <br /> ARTICLE 4 <br /> CHECK-OFF <br /> 4.01 The Employer agrees to deduct from the wages and salaries of bargaining unit members <br /> dues required by the OPBA by payroll deduction A"1 ,5at� ' r ;'1"1 <br /> e d ues is f.: :.we f., as a.0 p..4off-ef ,. ti �,A.. rea <br /> 1 a , QHS -oil I ° e� ' �" alae 4117.09(c)-., starting with the sixty first (61st) day of <br /> employment with the employer or the execution date of this Agreement, whichever comes first. <br /> 1 <br />
