shall be entitled to take, at the employee's option, the day before or after the holiday, or another day <br />off. Shift Operators and Plant Attendants at the Waste Water Treatment Plant shall take their <br />holidays, excluding personal days and birthdays, within ninety (90) days of when they occur. Any <br />holidays not taken within this time frame shall be paid to the employee at the regular straight time <br />rate. <br />24.04 The granting of paid holidays herein does not prevent the City, as an employer, from <br />requiring any employee to report for work or to work on any holiday, if necessary, by reason of <br />emergency or to carry on essential municipal functions. For the purpose of this section, an <br />emergency is defined as any impairment to City services or operations, which cannot be delayed <br />until the next workday. <br />24.05 The day after Thanksgiving shall not apply to individuals working in the Division of Refuse <br />and Recycling or the Division of Waste Water Treatment Plant, who will receive an extra personal <br />day, provided they give forty-eight (48) hours notice, and approval will be based on operational <br />needs of the City. <br />The Good Friday holiday will be observed on the Monday following Easter for Refuse employees. <br />Refuse collection will occur on Good Friday each year. Any Refuse employee who would like to <br />observe the holiday on Good Friday may make that request as part of their vacation pick and there <br />will be up to 3 employees approved off for that day. Employees who choose and are granted Good <br />Friday as the observed holiday will be required to work on Easter Monday to keep the drop off <br />facility open. <br />24.06 Employees shall be permitted to use their birthday holiday in the same manner as their <br />personal holidays anytime within the calendar year. Employees who utilize their birthday holiday <br />and sever employment prior to their birthday shall repay the time to the City. <br />ARTICLE 25 VACATIONS <br />25.01 Each full-time employee who has been continuously employed by the City for one (1) year or <br />more shall be entitled to vacation with pay on reaching his anniversary date based on the following <br />schedule: <br />1 Year 80 Hours <br />7 Years 120 Hours <br />13 Years 160 Hours <br />19+Years 200 Hours <br />Full-time employees who previously served under a part-time status within the Union will have their vacation <br />accrual begin retroactively to the part-time date of hire within the Union. <br />25.02 In applying the above, all regular time worked will serve as a basis for vacation calculations. <br />Regular time not worked but compensated by reasons of holiday, vacation or sick leave payments <br />hereof and regular time neither worked nor directly compensated by the City, but for which an <br />employee received Workers' Compensation because of injury sustained in the course of employment <br />by the City shall be included in vacation time calculations. <br />24 <br />
