A long time was spent <br /> deliberating. <br /> President O'Malley thanked LCRAC for its work and expressed enthusiasm for the new Task <br /> Force. He credited Lakewood for its leadership on this topic and for looking to citizens for input. <br /> Councilmember Kepple advocated for the Committee to recommend appointment of Angelina <br /> Steiner. Councilmember Kepple knows Ms. Steiner personally. She discussed Ms. Steiner's <br /> background, experience and personality, which she stated was well suited to the work of the <br /> Task Force. <br /> Motion by President O'Malley to insert the name Angelina Steiner into the first blank of <br /> Resolution 2020-53. <br /> Councilmember Rader recommended that William Yeung be appointed. He spoke about Mr. <br /> Yeung's interest in city government and engagement with the community. <br /> President O'Malley amended the previous motion to insert the name Angelina Steiner into the <br /> first blank and William Yeung into the second blank of Resolution 2020-53. <br /> Motion was seconded by Mr. Rader. <br /> President O'Malley scheduled a follow up Committee of the Whole for the following Monday <br /> and asked members to take the week to consider the other applicants. <br /> A roll call vote was conducted on the motion as follows: <br /> Yeas: Bullock, Kepple, Litten, Neff, O'Malley, Rader& Shachner <br /> Nays: none <br /> Motion adopted. Resolution 2020-53 substituted. <br /> RESOLUTION 2020-65 -A RESOLUTION to take effect immediately provided it <br /> receives the affirmative vote of at least two thirds of the members of Council, or <br /> otherwise to take effect and be in force after the earliest period allowed by law, <br /> appointing to the Tree Advisory & Education Board for a one- <br /> year term beginning January 1, 2021 and ending December 31, 2021. <br /> Clerk Bach reported that she reached out to Council's current appointee, Laura Balliett. Ms. <br /> Balliett was enthusiastic about continuing her service and is seeking re-appointment. <br /> President O'Malley stressed that Ms. Balliett was appointed only one year ago and that it makes <br /> sense to allow her to continue as the Tree Board is just getting off the ground. <br /> 2 <br />
