In response to questions from the committee, Mr. Papke stated that these watermains are in most <br /> need of replacement and therefore most likely to get approved by the grantors. Public Works has <br /> consulted with the Fire Department and the Water Department to determine which watermains <br /> are in most need of replacement. He noted that there are a few hydrants on Gladys with zero <br /> water flow. Given this, Mr. Papke stated that the City would most likely replace these <br /> watermains even without grant funding. <br /> The Committee and Mr. Papke discussed the OPWC grant program, its criteria, and the <br /> likelihood that the project will be funded. Previous grant cycles were discussed. <br /> Councilmember Bullock expressed support for the resolution and the project. <br /> Councilmember Rader asked why Council needs to weigh in on this grant application, where it <br /> does not on others. <br /> Mr. Papke replied that it is a requirement of the state. He asked for passage tonight as the <br /> deadline for the application is November 5h. <br /> A motion was made and seconded to recommend adoption of Resolution 2020-64. A roll call <br /> vote was conducted as follows: <br /> Yeas: Bullock, Rader <br /> Nays: none <br /> Motion adopted.
