MINUTES OF COMMITTEE OF THE WHOLE <br /> January 11, 2021 <br /> Virtual Meeting <br /> Present: Councilmembers Bullock, Kepple, Litten, Neff, O'Malley, Shachner <br /> Also Present: Planning Director Leininger, Sean McDermott, Deputy Clerk Lascu, Clerk Bach <br /> taking minutes <br /> Call to Order: 6:05 p.m. <br /> Approval of the minutes of the December 8, 2020 Committee of the Whole. <br /> A motion was made and seconded to approve the minutes of the December 8, 2020 Committee <br /> of the Whole. A roll call vote was conducted as follows: <br /> Yeas: Bullock, Kepple, Litten, Neff, O'Malley, Shachner <br /> Nays: none <br /> Absent: Rader <br /> Motion adopted. Minutes approved. <br /> RESOLUTION 2020-66 -A RESOLUTION to take effect immediately provided it <br /> receives the affirmative vote of at least two thirds of the members of Council, or <br /> otherwise to take effect and be in force after the earliest period allowed by law, <br /> appointing to the Planning Commission for the five year term <br /> beginning January 1, 2021 and ending December 31, 2025. <br /> President O'Malley reviewed the applicants and discussed their backgrounds and qualifications. <br /> He shared that one candidate called to withdraw her application due to another commitment. <br /> It was discussed that the Charter requires Planning Commission members to be registered voters <br /> of the City. Clerk Bach stated that she verified all applicants' voter registrations. Two applicants <br /> who are not registered are new residents of the City. <br /> Sean McDermott— 1490 Arthur Ave. —Mr. McDermott expressed his interest in serving on <br /> Planning Commission and made himself available to answer any questions about himself. He <br /> stated that the Planning Commission is the "front door to the community and to those who want <br /> to invest in it." He sees the Planning Commission as helpful in providing guidance on how best <br /> to invest in Lakewood. <br /> Multiple councilmembers spoke highly of Mr. McDermott's background and qualifications and <br /> assessed that he would make a great fit for Planning Commission. Some of Mr. McDermott's <br /> background that was most impressive was his work with Lakewood Alive, his role with the <br /> Metroparks, his leadership to help bring a new lighting project to Arthur Ave and his overall <br /> deep knowledge and engagement with Lakewood over time. <br /> 1 <br />
