RESOLUTION 2021-09 -A RESOLUTION to take effect immediately provided it <br /> receives the affirmative vote of at least two thirds of the members of Council, or <br /> otherwise to take effect and be in force after the earliest period allowed by law,in <br /> support of the Protecting the Right to Organize(PRO)Act,which provides a <br /> generational opportunity for the labor movement and serves as the cornerstone of the <br /> AFL-CIO's Workers First Agenda. (pg. 65) <br /> President O'Malley made a motion, seconded by Vice President Litten to adopt Resolution <br /> 2021-09. <br /> Discussion: Councilmembers echoed President O'Malley's remarks and noted how <br /> mistreatment of workers has affected our economy. <br /> On the motion: A roll call vote was taken as follows: <br /> Yeas —Bullock, Kepple, Litten, Neff, O'Malley, Rader, Shachner <br /> Nays —None <br /> Motion passed. Communication regarding traffic safety from Councilmembers Rader, Kepple & <br /> O'Malley (pg. 67) <br /> Councilmember Rader made a motion, seconded by President O'Malley to receive and file <br /> the communication. <br /> Discussion: Mayor George extended her sympathies to the families of the victims. The <br /> Lakewood Police Department and Ohio Highway Patrol are investigating. The <br /> administration anticipates the case being sent to a Cuyahoga county grand jury. Captain <br /> Stone stated that the department is awaiting drug& alcohol test results from the individual <br /> that caused the crash. <br /> Public Comment: <br /> Jillian Herbst Ms. Herbst stated she lives at the intersection where the accident occurred <br /> and added that it is a heavy traffic area. She has witnessed multiple accidents and <br /> pedestrians being struck at the intersection.
