11. RESOLUTION 2021-17-A RESOLUTION to take effect immediately provided it receives the <br /> vote of at least two thirds of the members of Council, or otherwise to take effect at the earliest <br /> period allowed by law, expressing support and appreciation for Lakewood's Asian and Asian <br /> American and Pacific Islander(AAPI) community members including residents,business owners, <br /> workers and visitors; and condemning all manner of racist and xenophobic behavior, hate speech, <br /> harassment, violence, and discrimination toward AAPI persons and AAPI owned businesses; and <br /> urging local,state and federal entities to prosecute to the fullest extent of the law anyone responsible <br /> for criminal activity toward such persons or businesses;and calling on the Cuyahoga County Board <br /> of Health and the Ohio Department of Health to include anti-racist messaging in public information <br /> and education efforts. (pg. 15) <br /> President O'Malley made a motion, seconded by Vice President Litten to adopt Resolution 2021-17. <br /> Discussion: Councibnember Bullock applauded Councibnember Kepple and welcomed diversity to <br /> Lakewood. <br /> On the motion: A roll call vote was taken as follows: <br /> Yeas —Bullock, Kepple, Litten, Neff, O'Malley, Rader, Shachner <br /> Nays —None <br /> Motion passed. Resolution 2021-17 was adopted. <br /> 12. Communication from President O'Malley regarding increasing the Fair Employment <br /> Wage. (pg. 17) <br /> President O'Malley noted that Councilmember Rader was intended to be a co-signer on this <br /> letter and that he was mistakenly left off. He made a motion, seconded by Vice President Litten <br /> to receive and file the communication. <br /> Discussion: Councilmember Rader thanked President O'Malley for his leadership on the issue <br /> and clarified that the ordinance only raises wages for city employees. <br /> On the motion: A roll call vote was taken as follows: <br /> Yeas —Bullock, Kepple, Litten, Neff, O'Malley, Rader, Shachner <br /> Nays —None <br /> Motion passed.
