All members voted in favor. Motion passed. Resolution 2021-30 was referred to the Public <br /> Safety Committee. <br /> 27. Communication from Director Dillinger regarding amendments to Chapter 144 of the Civil <br /> Service Commission to allow the hiring of lateral entry police officers. (pg. 055) <br /> President O'Malley made a motion, seconded by Vice President Litten to receive and file the <br /> communication. <br /> All members voted in favor. Motion passed. The communication was received and filed. <br /> 28. ORDINANCE 21-2021 - AN ORDINANCE to take effect immediately provided it <br /> receives the affirmative vote of at least two thirds of the members of Council, or otherwise <br /> to take effect and be in force at the earliest period allowed by law, amending Sections <br /> within Chapter 144 Civil Service Commission to allow lateral entry police officers to be <br /> hired with a grant of seniority for purposes of salary based on prior civil service police <br /> service. (pg. 056) <br /> President O'Malley made a motion, seconded by Vice President Litten to refer Ordinance 21- <br /> 2021 to the Public Safety Committee. <br /> Discussion: Councilmember Bullock expressed the importance of training up lateral entry <br /> officers to Lakewood's policing standards. <br /> On the motion: All members voted in favor. Motion passed. Ordinance 21-2021 was referred <br /> to the Public Safety Committee. <br /> 29. Communication from Director Gelsomino regarding a financial match from the Lakewood <br /> Foundation for the purchase of a Department of Aging vehicle though a NOACA 5310 <br /> Award.
