Communication from Chief Kaucheck regarding prisoner housing legislation. (pg. 046) <br /> President O'Malley made a motion, seconded by Vice President Litten to receive and file the <br /> communication. <br /> Discussion: President O'Malley inquired when the jail renovations are anticipated for <br /> completion. Captain Albrecht stated that they should be complete by Wednesday or Thursday <br /> of that week, noting that its capacity has remained the same. Councilmember Rader asked <br /> about jail population fluctuations, looking to ensure the city was able to house its own <br /> prisoners. Captain Albrecht noted that jail population space is kept very up to date, allowing <br /> LPD to know in advance on whether they will have jail space or not. <br /> All members voted in favor. RESOLUTION 2021-29 - A RESOLUTION to take effect immediately provided it <br /> receives the affirmative vote of at least five members of Council, or otherwise to take effect <br /> and be in force after the earliest period allowed by law, authorizing the Mayor as Director <br /> of Public Safety, or her designee, to enter into agreements to house prisoners from other <br /> jurisdictions where staffing of the Lakewood Jail and space permits.
