Motion by President O'Malley, seconded by Vice President Litten to refer Ordinance 25- <br /> 2021 to the Rules & Ordinances Committee. <br /> All members voted in favor. Motion passed. Ordinance 25-2021 referred to Rules & <br /> Ordinances Committee. <br /> 22. Communication from Mayor George regarding mayoral appointments to the Public Art <br /> Advisory Board. (pg. 089) <br /> Motion by President O'Malley, seconded by Vice President Litten to receive and file the <br /> communication. All members voted in favor. Motion passed. <br /> 23. Communication from Mayor George regarding a mayoral appointment to the Planning <br /> Commission. (pg. 090) <br /> Motion by President O'Malley, seconded by Vice President Litten to receive and file the <br /> communication. All members voted in favor. Motion passed. <br /> ***PUBLIC COMMENT"" <br /> AJ Magner-1517 Westshore Court <br /> Mr. Magner asked for a progress update on baseball field maintenance. He asked the city to <br /> take leadership to remediate the fields and to formalize roles and responsibilities with the <br /> Recreation Department. <br /> Councilmember Rader provided an update on the progress of scheduling a meeting between <br /> Public Works & Sustainability Committee and the Recreation Department. He explained that <br /> the Recreation Department has already taken steps to hire a consultant regarding the matter. <br /> President O'Malley asked for the Committee meeting to be scheduled immediately. <br /> Mr. Magner stressed that the fields are city assets, and that the city should be prepared to take <br /> control of them if needed. <br /> Mayor George provided an update on the progress of her discussions with the Lakewood City <br /> Schools. She remarked that it would be challenging for the City to operate the fields on its <br /> own and would have to change staffing and procure new equipment. <br /> President O'Malley agreed that the City is empowered to take action but that the City has an <br /> obligation to make a good faith effort to work with the Recreation Department. <br /> 8 <br />
