Yeas —Bullock, Kepple, Litten, Neff, O'Malley, Rader, Shachner
Nays —None
Motion passed. Ordinance 32-2021 was adopted as substituted.
3. Committee report regarding Public Works & Sustainability Committee meeting held
November 8, 2021. (to be provided)
Chairman Rader delivered the following oral report:
The Public Works & Sustainability Committee met on November 81h and went
over Ordinance 33-2021 that was proposed by Mr. Leininger and the
administration. The ordinance sets up a fee structure for our public EV
charging. We heard a great presentation from City Planner, David Baas. We
got almost entirely through the presentation. We only allotted a half an hour. I
think we really need to dedicate more time. I think we will have another hearing
on this. We didn't have a chance to have much discussion. Right now, all our
EV chargers are free for public use and, as of late, they've been used even more
and more. Just in this budget hearing, a few minutes ago, we heard that the
administration is planning even more of these EV chargers across the city. As
we grow and expand, we need to plan for the future and have some kind of rate
structure that helps prepare us for the future and replacement. Once that second
meeting is posted, we will make sure people know about it and they can come
make comment if they'd like. But that's an ongoing conversation. So, we
deferred on that and look forward to the next hearing.
Motion by Councilmember Rader, seconded by President O'Malley to receive and file the
report. All members voted in favor. Motion passed. The report was received and filed.
4. Committee report regarding Public Safety Committee meeting held November 8, 2021. (to
be provided)
Chairperson Neff delivered the following oral report:
The Committee met on November 8h. Present were Chief Kaucheck as well is
Officer Ron Bunner, representing the union. Regarding Ordinance 37-2020, the
request is to amend Lakewood Codified Ordinance Chapter 144, Civil Service
Commission to allow the city to be able to hire one lateral officerfor every two
officers hired offthe civil service eligibility list. Currently it's every third office.
So, this will be for the betterment of the Police Department and for having good
quality officers with experience on hand. Police and the police industry is now
a very tough market and this amendment will certainly assist the Police
Department.
Motion by Councilmember Neff, seconded by President O'Malley to receive and file the
report. All members voted in favor. Motion passed. The report was received and filed.
2
