29. Communication from Councilmembers Bullock & Rader regarding removal of First <br /> Energy name from Cleveland Browns Stadium. (pg. 100) <br /> Motion by Councilmember Rader, seconded by President O'Malley to receive and file the <br /> communication. <br /> Councilmembers Bullock & Rader expounded upon their communication and expressed their <br /> opposition to First Energy's stadium naming rights deal with the Browns. <br /> On the motion: All members voted in favor. Motion passed. <br /> 30. RESOLUTION 2021-57 - A RESOLUTION to call upon the Cleveland Browns <br /> organization to fully remove FirstEnergy's name and logo from the publicly financed and <br /> owned stadium and to call upon FirstEnergy to voluntarily relinquish its naming rights to <br /> the stadium. (pg. 101) <br /> Motion by President O'Malley, seconded by Councilmember Shachner to adopt Resolution <br /> 2021-57. <br /> Public Comment: State Representative Jeff Crossman Representative Crossman spoke <br /> about House Bill 61 adopted by the Ohio General Assembly in 2019. Rep. Crossman asserted <br /> that the bill set Ohio back in terms of clean energy and consumer protections. He remarked <br /> on the corruption involving First Energy that was revealed after the bill's passage. He <br /> argued that due to its fraudulent behavior, that First Energy should not have its name on <br /> Browns Stadium. <br /> Mayor George expressed support for the resolution and thanked Representative Crossman for <br /> attending the meeting. She thanked Councilmembers Rader and Bullock for bringing the <br /> matter forward. <br /> On the motion: All members voted in favor. Motion passed. Resolution 2021-57 was <br /> adopted. <br /> 31. Communication from Mayor George regarding additional pay for front line workers. (pg. <br /> 103) <br /> In response to a question from Councilmember O'Malley, Mayor George clarified that the <br /> essential worker payments will be disbursed in checks this coming Friday. <br /> Discussion: Councilmember Bullock expressed support for the payments and advocated for <br /> additional payments to front-line employees such as police, fire, and refuse who could not <br /> work from home or furlough. <br /> 11 <br />
